New York based celebrity trainer Oscar Smith is no stranger to the rigors of
Fashion Week. He trains many models, including Petra Nemcova, at his Tribeca gym O-Diesel.
To get models ready for the runway he works them hard with a strenuous circuit workout, full of intervals and plyometric moves.

Even though NY did not seem to follow the recent trend in making models that are too skinny sit out the runway, Madrid is definitely pulling its weight (no pun intended).
Madrid, the first city last year to ban models who are too skinny, has gone a step further this year and declared 5 models too thin for the catwalk at this week's international designer show. The other 64 models who were checked had enough fat on them to take part on the runways, including one, Maria Campoy, who was banned in September for being too boney.

Did you wear red today for the National Wear Red Day?
Three cheers if you did, you have helped to raise awareness of heart disease (the number one killer in women)! Congrats.

Did you know that the median onset of anorexia for girls is between the ages of 11 and 13, but the disease has been noted even in elementary school children?
As today marks the kick off of Fashion Week in New York and all eyes are on the shows for the fashions (of course) but also to see if the models will be less thin than in previous shows. This change (hopefully) comes after the fashion industry has been scrutinized after two models recently starved themselves to death.

Thanks to a healthy attitude — and a little encouragement from hubby Seal — Heidi Klum is working to get her body back in shape after baby number four. Still, if you're expecting the supermodel to take a turn in the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, you might be surprised to learn that she won't be walking the runway this year, but playing hostess duty instead.
In an interview with US Weekly, it seems this mom is a little more realistic when it comes to shaping up her body after giving birth.

Runner Kara Goucher made her marathon debut a year ago in the Big Apple, but she's skipping the New York Marathon this year. At the Nike Running Summit, she explained she wasn't planning on racing again until Boston because she's doing some planning of a different nature — family planning.
When you're an elite runner, skipping an event doesn't go unnoticed, making it difficult to keep it a secret that you're trying to get pregnant.

The fitness world may not have a fashion week, but this weekend I previewed some of Nike's 2010 Spring running line, shoes and jackets, at the Nike Running Summit here in San Francisco. At the event, held the day before the 6th annual Nike Women's Marathon, designers explained their two inspiration behind their latest sneakers and running gear: runners and lightweight.
The first concept is fairly self explanatory — they design their gear to complement the motion of running and what runners need.

I know models need to work hard to stay slim and in shape, but a lingerie model must have to work 10 times harder since she just about bares it all.
So when Victoria's Secret model, Alessandra Ambrosio had a baby girl last August, she had to do a lot of cardio to lose her post-baby pounds so she could strike her stuff on the runway four months later. Her body looked amazing in a short amount of time, but she said for this year's show, it's not as easy.

My girl FabSugar has been doing her thing at New York Fashion Week and I was expecting to see some less skinny models this time around since other major fashion weeks took action against using super skinny models. Turns out, not so much the case in NYC. In fact it seems like no one was even talking about it...
