Apr 7 2009 - 6:00am If you're following this season of
Dancing With the Stars, you've probably noticed the dancers' amazingly toned and strong bodies in their sexy and revealing costumes. If you're wondering how they stay fit and lean, here are some of the dieting secrets they shared in a recent issue of
Us Weekly.

I'm thinking the biggest take-away is that exercising for 8 hours a day makes you look fit ^_^"
1with the amount of time they rehearse and work out, it doesn't sound like they eat enough at all! and since when was a size 26 waist (AFTER KIDS!) not teeny tiny enough?
2wmoonw, I was thinking the same thing. Reminds me a little of the whole Michael Phelps thing and how he can usually eat what he wants because he trains like 12 hours a day. I mean I would probably look like this too if I was sweating my butt off dancing 9 hours daily. They do have great bodies though.
3They sure don't eat a lot do they... considering they work out 8 hours a day. This seems almost unhealthy to me.
4Working/dancing 8 hours a day? Granted, that's what they get paid to do, but still. Holy cow. No wonder they are so fit.
5esp lil kim... 1200-1400 cals a day is hardly enough for a sedentary person, let alone someone dancing 8 hours a day
6Taking away carbs when you're exercising that much, doesn't sound all that smart to me.
7Maybe if they ate more there wouldn't be so many injuries on the show.
8Jennie Garth had that big story about how dwts made her skinny. Seems like a good deal!
98 hour workouts + limited eating = not my style!
10Interesting...
11Wow, that's insane...they are eating only 1200-1500 calories a day and they're dancing 8+ hours a day. Yeah, it'd be pretty tough to keep any weight on doing that. I agree: it's not healthy. Who cares if you're that skinny; it sounds like a pretty miserable quality of life. I'd rather enjoy a piece of cake or a handful of jelly beans every once in a while and be at a normal weight.
12well duh, this isn't realistic for the rest of us!!!! I know my body would be bangin' too if I got paid to dance!
13ew a tablespoon of olive oil on an empty stomach?
14wmoonw...THANK YOU! My thoughts EXACTLY.
I think 1200 to 1500 calories a day while working out 8 hours is NOT enough in my opinion.
15Agreed, Wmoonw! Exercising even 20 mins every two days makes a big difference in how I look, so you have no excuse if you don't look toned after exercising 8 hours a day!
And I'd def. need more calories than that with such a workout!
16For most women, BMR is between 1200 and 1500 calories, so add onto that daily activity and HOURS of dancing, and, unless they are trying to lose a lot of weight fast, I would say they're not eating enough. Of course, Lil Kim is really short, so maybe her BMR is smaller.
17Back to reality People. Nobody living a normal life can excercise 8 hours a day. This advice is not for everyday folks. Honestly 1500 calories a day. They'd be dropping dead of malnutrition.
18Too much of anything is never good and that includes excercise. Most athletes when they retire get a little thick. It's what happens when you're not on an extreme fitness regime. The dancers, dance and pratice 8 to 10 hours a day. No kidding when they take a break they put on a few pounds. Cheryl could go from 8 hours of dancing a week to a normal work out of 1h a day and she'd put on pounds. It's extreme people.
