Mar 15 2010 - 1:30pm As a fan of David Beckham and the World Cup, I was sad to hear about his injury from Sunday's game. With a torn left Achilles tendon that will likely need surgery and at least three months recovery time, his ability to participate in his fourth World Cup is probably unlikely. Although he may be sidelined from playing for a while, he's confident that the injury will heal and he'll be playing for years to come.
OUCH! i feel really bad. March 12, 2008 I ruptured my right Achilles tendon playing soccer, i was only 25 at the time. It can happen to anyone. And I doubt he'll be back in action in 3
months. I was in a cast for 3 months, and a walking boot for 3 after that. This is no minor injury! Even with physical therapy I still have pain after running, and that was two years ago!
I'm a girl and I had a huge Achilles problem... it never ruptured but it was pretty close. It hurt like hell. Now I do yoga and I work my mileage up slowly if I haven't been running, and I
don't really have a problem with it anymore.
The principal at my high school tore his when he helped some people push their car out of a snowbank. I guess he was really sedentary and the sudden movement caused the tendon to tear. It
definitely sounds like a painful thing to go through.
Alright I need some advice: I have been running 3 miles a day since December with a few longer runs thrown in there, I overdid it a week ago and now my achilles hurts really bad. For the past
week I did not run but did cardio that did not effect it, such as biking or ellipticalling and I iced it every evening. This week I have started to do some calf stretches/dead lifts/etc to
stretch it out....am I doing the right thing? Any advice is welcome! Thanks

CRINGE!
But hey, hooray for this being one thing males are more at risk for. I feel like almost everything else is more likely for women.

4Um, David B's hot and all, but does the guy ever play soccer/football for more than a few games at a time? It seems like he's always getting injured.
