If you've been reading FitSugar, you know that I am mildly obsessed with finding functional (and cute) gear. I am not always loving the straight tank and crop pants look [boring] so when I find something fun, I like to let you guys know about it.

Joe's Pila-T-Shop makes these great shirts (tanks, tees, long sleeved, etc.) that really make a statement. No seriously, they make statements like, "Flow Like Joe" or "got powerhouse?" or "Welcome to Joe's Torture Chamber". For those of you wondering who this crazy Joe is, the shirts are referring to Joe aka Joseph Pilates, the father of Pilates (not cuppa', schmoe or husband of Mary as you may have been thinking). Anyone who has done Pilates can tell you that at times the reformer may truly seem like a torture chamber. Sometimes you don't want anyone to know your secret for looking so darn good lately, but sometimes you do. For those days you want to show everyone your secret weapon, I suggest these cute graphic tees with yoga poses on them.

The tops are cute enough to wear on a Saturday afternoon, but the breathable cotton means that you can wear them in class too. Get Your Butt in Gear: Ailin

Looking for some cute new gear for yoga or any of your fitness endeavors? Check out my new favorite line of gear: Ailin (pronounced "eye-lean").

I am especially in love with this Waitomo Caves Mock Tee ($95). It's knit from a soft polyester fiber whose smooth face makes layering easy. The brushed interior eco-friendly polyester combo fabric at the chest adds a technical, water resistant dimension. All this, along with the fact that it is super cute, makes this top perfect for fall. I wore it to the gym, took it off before working out (it was super hot in there today), and then put it back on to go run a few errands before heading home. The best part? I still felt cute, which is more than I have to say for myself when I am in my baggy hooded college sweatshirts-plus, you know I love a multipurpose item!

The Hauraki Gulf Yoga Pants ($80) provide excellent stretch and warmth. The two straps that tie into bows just above the ankles add a little flare to your average spandex pant. The pants are made from moisture wicking Supplex and Lycra, so they can be worn as a performance driven exercise pant-though my girl FabSugar may wear them as a fashion statement with booties. What's more? They did wonders for my legs. My husband couldn't stop telling me how great they looked in these pants! (Um, I'll take one in every color.)

Pair the top and pants with a cute tank, like the super soft, moisture wicking Tongariro Tank ($42), and you've got yourself one knockout workout outfit.

Pricey? Indeed. Worth every penny? Absolutely.

Go Apparel: Tell it How it is Sista

I am always complaining about the lack of great fitness clothing. Usually there is nothing overly cute about it.

Recently, I came across a great company called Go Apparel that makes these really catchy tees ($25) with some very appropriate sayings: "I did the 100 today. Did you?" and "Table Top Sucks," For anyone who has ever done Pilates, they can tell you that doing the 100s is an accomplishment worth bragging about, and that table top really does suck.

I'm loving these shirts not only because of the great things they say, but also because they are super cute (the image above does not do them justice), so incredibly soft and extra long (you know I love that). You could wear the tee just to lounge around or you could wear one while actually doing Pilates.

The story of how these tees came to be is a great one: Two actors fall in love on set. She convinces him to try Pilates and he is shocked at how hard it is. She makes him a shirt. He wears it during his next class and the crowd goes wild for the shirt and they starting making and selling them in a business. You may think the G.O. in G.O. Apparel has something to do with fitness but in reality, it stands for the couple's cats: Gemma and Oreo. Buy a shirt (or two) directly from GoApparel.net.

Get Your Butt in Gear: SpreadShirt

If you're training for a marathon for charity then you're probably looking to get more donations, so one way to be creative and up those charity dollars is with SpreadShirt.com - and design your own gear shop online. Not only can you give away personalized T-shirts to your donators (say you charge $25 for the shirt, which means $10 to create it and the remaining $15 can go to help support your charity), but you can also create your own shirt to make a statement on the race day, or whenever you wear it. I mean, how cool would it be to have your kids wearing a "Team [insert your name here]" shirt as you cross the finish line?

Let's be honest, I've been wearing my custom FitSugar shirt (pictured) all the time, because I think it's cute and it performs well on my runs - and no, I'm not training for a race. Get Your Butt in Gear: Be Present Bamboo Halter Top

I'm a huge fan of fitness clothes made by Be Present. Check out this halter shirt ($49) made from blended fabric that is 95 percent bamboo and 5 percent lycra. It's as soft as cotton, but this fabric is breathable and wicks away moisture. It's also considered an environmentally-friendly fabric because bamboo is sustainable, meaning that it grows very quickly and can be harvested and then replanted again to replenish what was used. Another great thing is that bamboo doesn't require the use of pesticides, so farms can easily be organic. I love that it's a workout top, but it's also cute and not too low-cut. Not only could you wear this to the studio or gym, but it's so adorable, you could also wear it to the store afterwards.

Get Your Butt in Gear: Lija Style Golf Gear

Golf is definitely in the swing of things right now and any self respecting golfer (or wannabe golfer) knows that you can't show up in your ripped jeans and baby tee. Serious golf clothes can be a bit drab, but occasionally you can find some gems.

Lija Style is a women's golf wear line that recognized a need in the women’s golf market for a more fashion driven line of apparel that would meet the increased demands of a younger, more style-conscious demographic that were starting to play golf (like you and me). I personally like the Dawn to Dusk collection (pictured above) because I like the color combinations a lot, but there are many other collections to chose from too.
