These new Produce Savers from Rubbermaid keep fruits and vegetables fresh and crisp up to 33 percent longer as compared to other traditional food-storage methods. The containers allow the produce to breathe while also separating it from moisture, making getting your five a day a lot more attainable when you know it's going to be fresh. I really like that I can bring one of these into work, knowing my in-season fruit will not get squished on my way and will stay fresher longer.

Cool Healthy Gadget: Fit & Fresh Salad Shaker

I recently got this really cool gadget that I just had to share with you guys since I know you all really like salad. It's a great gadget for anyone that likes to bring salads with them to work. The Fit & Fresh Salad Shaker ($10) keeps your salad fresh and cool. Take your own utensils or a granola or nutrition bar on the top storage compartment (mine actually came with a pair of utensils that snap onto the lid). The lid/top of the shaker is a removable ice pack that should keep your salad cool for up to 6 hours. The bowl itself holds up to four cups of salad. Goodbye soggy salads, as there is a nifty little dressing dispenser (holds 4 tbsp) in the lid that allows you to keep dressing separate from salad. When you’re ready to eat, just twist it open and shake. My only complaint is that it's pretty bulky, especially since I already carry at least three bags to work, but for ten bucks it's a pretty good buy. Get one here.

Looking for a fun way to get on top of portion control?

I am loving these Yum Yum Dishes ($22 for a set of four) because each cute, little dish is only 4 oz. (1/2 cup). This means you fill up the little cup with whatever you are wanting, put the bulk of it away, and snack on. I know a few of you are going to say, "Well why would I spend my money on that when I could just measure it out myself?" True but sometimes you just need something easy and cute, and these do the trick perfectly. Plus, I love that they were developed by a mom who found herself not being able to lose the pregnancy weight because she was snacking too much after having her second child. Buy a set here.

We all know that portion control is a key component in losing weight (or maintaining weight) so anything and everything we can do/use to help easily figure out portion sizes is a great product in my book.

A cool product, the EZ Weight Plate ($19.95), is perfect for figuring out portion sizes. There are eight (four big and four small) molded indentations complete with measuring sizes marked on the plate (think measuring cups/spoons sunken into a plate). I love that the plate has a lid and is microwavable, which means it would be great to use for bringing your own lunches to work.

Cool Healthy Gadget: Misto Olive Oil Sprayer

I am a huge fan of olive oil, but too much of a good thing can be bad, and I often go overboard with how much olive oil I use while cooking. In light of this, one of my favorite healthy kitchen tools is the Misto Olive Oil Sprayer ($9.95).

All you do is fill the sprayer with olive oil. Pump the cap to pressurize. Then spray on anything your little heart desires. A couple of spritzes will do just fine. You'll end up using less oil, which ultimately means fewer calories, all while still benefiting from its good fats (monounsaturated fats).

The sprayer is non-aerosol, which means it's not harmful to the environment. Plus, you can refill the sprayer and reuse again and again.

I am always looking for cool healthy gadgets to make being healthy just a little easier on my lifestyle.

This Sundesa Blender Bottle ($8.50) is a 28 oz. plastic bottle with a surgical stainless steel ball that you drop into the cup with your ingredients and shake. The cool part is that the ball stays in the cup until the ingredients are emptied. It's better than just shaking ingredients in a cup because the ball really mixes everything up (it even gets rid of lumps). Not only is the Blender Bottle great for making nutrition shakes, I'm thinking you can also use it to make healthy salad dressings, smoothies and even omelets.

I am always looking for easy ways to keep on track with my eating. This may be a bit neurotic, though control freaks do well at weight loss, but a food scale is a great way to keep track of what you're eating.

Cool Healthy Gadget: Ziploc Zip'n Steam Bags

I am always looking for new ways to cook healthfully and so when a new product comes along to make it that much easier, I love to share it with you guys.

I've been hearing a lot about these new Ziploc Zip'n Steam Bags and while I have not yet been able to get my hands on them, I am liking the idea especially since it puts your microwave to use in a healthy way. Here is how it works: Each bag has patented vents that allow food to be steamed under pressure so that it is cooked thoroughly and evenly for healthy meals in minutes. You can steam anything from fresh veggies to fish, just throw on some seasoning and pop the bag full of goodies in the microwave. No need for oils or fats - healthy cooking doesn't really get any easier than that.

I do believe that getting a reusable steamer would be much better for the long run and for the environment, but if you have yet to purchase one, these are a good way to meet your steaming needs temporarily. If anyone has tried them, let me know what you think. If not, you should be able to find them at supermarkets nationwide.
