Nellie's Nest Eggs

The other morning I went to the grocery to pick up some eggs to hard boil so I could decorate them with my girls, and they were out of Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs.

I freaked for half a second, but then noticed another brand right next to them. I picked up a 6-pack of Nellie's Nest Eggs and read the label. Just like my other favorite eggs, Nellie's are also Certified Organic and Certified Humane.

Nellie's Nest Eggs are also Cage Free. Their eggs come from hens that are kept in spacious chicken coops, where they can roam, scratch, perch, and nest as they please. Their hens are fed all natural vegetarian grain with no animal by-products, hormones, or antibiotics.

I was so psyched to find another egg company I could trust and feel happy to support.

Eggs are nutritious, providing 6 grams of protein per egg. One egg also contains approximately 200 mg of Omega-3 fatty acids which are known to have health benefits such as prevention of heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.

Fit's Tips: The American Heart Association recommends consuming no more than 300 mg of cholesterol a day . One of Nellie's Nest Eggs contains about 215 mg, so it's OK to eat an egg a day for breakfast, as long as you aren't eating it with cholesterol-loaded bacon and sausage too.

Artists For Humanity Youth Develop Plastic Bag Bar Stools

I'm excited to present a post from one of my favorite sites, TreeHugger!

From Artists of Humanity comes an innovative design that turns more than 200 plastic shopping, dry-cleaning or newspaper bags into a colorful plastic bar stool, called "ReVision."

Made by inner-city youth in Boston, Massachusetts, the stools received the Social Responsibility Award by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) at the 2011 Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York City.Besides fast foot chains, AFH is the largest youth employer in Boston, where they are based. They provide employment to more than two hundred inner-city teenagers per year, many of whom are under-served, in commission projects including painting, video, animation, sculpture, 3D design, graphic design and screen printing. The youth work with mentors and develop entrepreneurial skills. And they work out of a Platinum LEED-Certified building, called the Epicenter, which was designed in part by former participants of their programs.

Totally Rad Teen Perfumes from House of Rose

Jane Langdon decided to make and sell her own perfume because she had to say goodbye, old friend to her favorite Crabtree & Evelyn scent. It was a rose perfume (hence the company name House of Rose), and her fragrance became so popular that friends and family began requesting more scents.

When her teenage sons approached her asking for some fun scents, she decided to survey teenagers countrywide for ideas and opinions. Some time later she launched a line called Scent Bent FUN Fragrances just for them. And although some schools are considering banning fragrances, that won't keep teenagers away from these.

This teen collection now includes 29 flavors such as Baby Powder, Peach, Bubble Gum, Lemonade and Dreamsickle. What's cool about these perfumes is that they are alcohol-free, so they last twice as long as other perfumes.

Also, they contain lab certified human pheromones, which are chemicals we emit that trigger a response from the opposite sex.
