Sunday mornings may start out lazy, but by the time afternoon rolls around, I always feel like it is time to get
back on track. Creating a simple routine helps me make sure I have all my duckies in a row, from clean gym clothes packed in my gym bag to a meal plan for the week with steel cut oats started for breakfast. I love ending my weekend with a nice relaxing soak in the tub, which helps me sleep better so I start my upcoming week refreshed and ready to go.

If you haven't gotten the memo: Whole grains are healthy. Millet, barley, and oats are considered good carbs since they offer a great combination of fiber, protein, and vitamins; they fill you up and help you sustain your energy. One down side to whole grains is that they can take around 30 minutes to prepare.

I know January's the beginning of the year, but for many lucky kids (
pets are like our children, right?), September kicks off a whole new start. In honor of
back to school, I'd like to add even more advice and tips from me – and all of you – to the site!
Do you have problems you want to work on?

Summer is slowly drawing to a close and the wonderful distraction of the Olympics has drawn to a close as well. I suggest starting the last week of August off on the right foot by packing your lunch for Monday the night before. Take what's left of Sunday dinner and create a healthy lunch.

Maybe you're inspired to workout after watching some of the Olympic games. Or maybe you had one too many slices of peach pie this weekend and feel the need to add some cardio to your life. Regardless, now is the time to pencil in some workouts for the upcoming week.

The weekend can wreak havoc on a healthy lifestyle. For others, it's a lot harder to keep on track during the week with work dinners, lunches, and no time for anything but fast food. Me, I have the hardest time staying on track on Fridays.

I am a firm believer in healthy snacking, and just like with meals, it pays to
plan ahead with snacks too. Nuts and
trail mix make up the solid portion of most of my snacks, I pre-pack small Tupperware containers with a couple of handfuls of nuts and dried fruit. I just stack them in a corner of my kitchen counter, so they are easy to grab on the go.

After a three-day weekend, possibly full of
splurges, you want to get back on track, and let's start from the bottom up. How are your sneakers treating your feet? You should replace your running shoes every 350 to 500 miles, and you might be due.

With Sunday evening comes the inevitable wind down from a busy weekend and plans for the upcoming week. To get
back on track, it pays to take a moment and think about your health intentions for the week. Your goal shouldn't be over complicated or too general, something simple like: to eat a leafy green everyday, to get to bed before midnight, or to lift weights twice a week.
