Gear Review: Intak BPA Free Water Bottle

While I'm a fan of reusable bottles made by Sigg, Klean Kanteen, and Nalgene, they all requite two hands to open them, which can be annoying at times. If you can relate, then check out the Intak BPA Free Hydration Bottle with Meter ($11) made by Thermos.

To see how it works read more.

Unlike other water bottles, this one has a pop top. You just lower the metal ring to unlock it, and press the gray triangular button. The clear top pops off but remains attached since it's on a hinge. You can't loosen it - yay! It reveals a small opening that makes it easy to sip out of without pouring water all over your face. Once the top is locked, it's leak proof. I love the slender body that's easy to grip, and it holds 24 ounces of water. There's even a little rotating meter so you can monitor how much water you've had. One of the best features is that the black top unscrews so it's easy to clean the inside of the bottle. It's also dishwasher safe. If you're interested, this Intak bottle comes in green, blue, red, and purple and you can buy one directly from Thermos.

Anne Hathaway Drinks Thermo Bubbles to Boost Fat Burning

Hollywood is getting ready for the Oscars, and Us Weekly is making us privy to celebs' red-carpet secrets. Among their arsenal of tricks is trainer David Kirsch's Thermo Bubbles ($40 for 10 servings). Supposedly Anne Hathaway, among other actresses and models, partake in this herbal drink that claims to "melt away the fat naturally" along with boosting energy and metabolism levels.

Each 16-oz. serving contains 10 calories with no added sugar. Its ingredients are white tea, guarana (which makes the list of a prominent cardiologist's dangerous diet supplements), ginseng, and green tea. The energy boost probably comes from the caffeine in the green tea. Drinking this fizzy beverage, made from powder you add to water, is said to curb appetites, and the website claims Thermo Bubbles won't give you the jitters or make you crash like coffee or other energy drinks can.

To find out if this can help you lose weight read more.

I don't believe this is the magic pill to make fat melt away, and I am not a fan of appetite suppressants. Your body needs calories to burn in order to function. Kirsch recommends drinking his bubbly twice a day, making this an expensive habit - well over $50 a week. But what happens when you stop drinking it? Will your raging appetite return? The best way to lose weight is to exercise and limit your calorie intake under the amount of calories you're burning, without dipping under 1200 calories a day. Why not just drink some green tea, which is considerably cheaper and offers a bevy of health benefits? Or try these five foods to boost your metabolism.

Source

Will Sensa Help You Lose Weight?

It seems people will always be on the hunt for the magic pill that leads to weight loss, and there is no shortage of products trying to satisfy people's need for short-cuts to weight loss. Alli diet pills and Thermo Bubbles both come to mind. There's another product to add to the list called Sensa, developed by Dr. Alan Hirsch. You add these sprinkles to your food, and they supposedly curb your appetite and make you feel full, so you eat less and lose weight. Extra host Dayna Devon says, "It eliminated my sweet-tooth cravings!"

The website says you can eat whatever foods you want when using Sensa, and still lose weight. To find out how that's possible read more.

All you do is sprinkle either the salty or sweet Sensa crystals on all your food. The sprinkles stimulate the area in your brain known as the satiety center, which tells your body when it's time to stop eating, and they trigger the feel-full signal. There are no diet restrictions, but the crystals are added to your foods to help you overcome your desire to overeat.

Sounds like a dream come true, being able to eat what you want and still lose weight, but there's one problem here. People using Sensa aren't making any permanent behavior or attitude changes about food, so they're not going to learn how to keep the weight off once they stop using Sensa. Plus, it's not cheap. A one-month supply costs $59. Seems like another diet scam to me. I sound like a broken record here, but if you're looking to lose weight and keep it off, a healthy diet and regular exercise is the only way to go.

Holiday Survival: Take a Twinkly Stroll

It's hard to find time for fitness over the holidays, especially if you have house guests or family in town. So get into the holiday spirit while getting moving. Assuming you don't live in a terribly frigid climate, bundle up with your significant other and/or family and take a walk to check out the holiday light displays in your 'hood.

Live in the city or on a light-free block? Research the best light displays in your city and take the car; just be sure to get out and walk around once you're there. Don't forget to bring along some lighted accessories to increase your visibility, and walk defensively against traffic and be on the lookout for cars. Make it even more of a celebration by toting a Thermos full of a warm beverage like apple cider or green tea. Just try to resist the cocoa.
Source
