True as that may be, heart rate monitors are used as a training tool more than a heart health monitoring device. They are not only for people with known heart conditions, everyone can benefit from wearing a heart rate monitor but some people will benefit more than others.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;OK, so is it right for you? If you&#039;ve ever thought one (or more) of the following, then I&#039;d say you&#039;d benefit from a heart rate monitor:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If you don&#039;t want to bother with either, than use the &lt;b&gt;conversation pace test&lt;/b&gt;.  If you can sing while maintaining your level of movement, than you&#039;re not working hard enough.  If you can talk while moving, that&#039;s a pretty good pace, but try to push a little past there.  If you can&#039;t even waste your breath to grunt an answer to a yes/no question, then you are working too hard.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Fit&#039;s Tips:&lt;/b&gt;  If you&#039;re just beginning to do cardio, you want to aim for your lowest target heart rate.  So if you were &lt;b&gt;25 years old&lt;/b&gt;, you&#039;d want to be working out at a pace of 98 beats per minute.  As you continue working out, gradually build up to the middle part of your target heart rate, around 134 beats per minute.  &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The average resting heart rate of adults is 60-100 beats per minute (bpm) while athletes are around 50-60 bpm. Other numbers to know: The infant/neonatal rate of heartbeat is 130-150 bpm, the toddler&#039;s is 100–130 bpm, the older child&#039;s is 90–110 bpm and the adolescent&#039;s is 80–100 bpm.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The worry would (and should) come in when a resting heart rate is lower than 30. However, even that can be completely normal (and usually is) if the athlete is totally healthy. The slow heart rate &lt;i&gt;usually&lt;/i&gt; just indicates a strong heart. If you are concerned, it never hurts to consult a physician when dealing with your health.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Fit&#039;s Tip:&lt;/b&gt; The best time to determine your resting heart rate is when you first awaken in the morning or after sitting down and relaxing for at least 5 minutes. &lt;p&gt;Although Jensen has tweaked Duff&#039;s workouts to accommodate her pregnancy, she&#039;s quick to point out that the mom-to-be is no slouch in the gym. &quot;Since Hilary was already in good shape, she&#039;s able to do everything but at her own pace with a few modifications like taking more breaks to drink water and catch her breath when her heart rate goes up and not doing advanced ab exercises,&quot; says Jensen.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As her due date draws near, the former &lt;b&gt;Lizzie McGuire&lt;/b&gt; star is also preparing her body for the hardships of labor. That means plenty of arm, leg, chest, and core exercises. &quot;For now, I&#039;m focusing on her core muscles because I want those muscles intact so she has an easier delivery,&quot; says Jensen. Just don&#039;t expect Mrs. Comrie to stay bedridden for very long since &quot;Hilary loves being healthy and has always been very active. Once she gets the OK from her doctor, we&#039;re really going to kick it up a notch,&quot; says Jensen. &quot;She&#039;s tough with amazing form, so I&#039;m able to work her hard and really kick her butt!&quot;&lt;/p&gt;
