Mar 14 2010 - 3:30am I was lucky enough to talk to celeb trainer Harley Pasternak, who shared a tip that seems perfect for the weekend. Harley says that the singular, most important piece of fitness advice he can offer someone is, "get a great pair of running shoes." On top of that, Harley says that you should always be wearing them, always.
THIS IS BAD ADVICE.
YOU SHOULD ONLY WEAR THE SHOES YOU WEAR RUNNING WHILE RUNNING.
ask any running store professional, or any running coach, or any running professional!
Running shoes are important to running, and wearing them while not running wears them down much more quickly. Seriously, I thought everyone who ran knew this?
I have to admit, as I was reading the article, I was thinking along the lines of lilxmissxmolly. Why would a serious runner put more friction & use on their shoes than they already do?
The intent of this particular advice is just to try to get one to be more motivated to exercise, but I don't really think it matters if your feet aren't comfortable when taking the stairs or
whatnot.
Haha - I thought EXACTLY the same thing as the above two posters. I get what he's saying - but he should have just said "sneakers" or something instead of specifically "running shoes."
I just realized my above post sounded seriously intense!
I agree that wearing athletic clothes, etc. is a great way to stay in a good mindset. But if you're a serious runner, save your "running shoes" for running!
