The Strangers director Bryan Bertino takes a simple storyline based in reality ("inspired," in fact, by true events) and tells it with such careful realism that our own basic human terror, usually lying dormant within us, rises inescapably to the surface. He has figured out a perfectly lethal recipe for horror movie success: take a large dose of realism, add a few scary things and then patiently wait for the fear to rise.
This movie is a great example of a horror/suspense film done well.
Movie Preview: The Strangers I'm currently working on my full review of The Strangers, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman but I'll go ahead and tell you now: it's so scary! I'm posting the full trailer here today to get you scary movie fans pumped up, and to remind you that there are some cool, smaller movies making their way into theaters nowadays besides the big blockbusters.

But OMG I cannot even watch this trailer!

Dolce and Gabbana threw a party at Baoli, Port Canto during the
Cannes Film Festival this weekend, and things must have gotten hotter because the dresses keep getting shorter. Lindsay Lohan looked spectacular in a short mini green dress and a beautiful sparkler on her finger. Hmmm, could it be a gift from one of
her many suitors?

Michelle Williams has understandably taken some
time off from red carpet events, but last night she was back with a vengeance. She looked happy and gorgeous at the premiere of Adoration in
Cannes, a film that stars Scott Speedman and Rachel Blanchard. Michelle herself isn't in the movie, but maybe she just wanted to get a little warm up before the premiere of her Synecdoche, New York at the festival tonight.

Some of Hollywood's
cell phone loving celebs came out last night to celebrate the 9th anniversary of Motorola in LA. Kelly Clarkson provided the entertainment as she took the stage in her
fab juicy dress and Brittany Murphy squeezed into some serious leather boots. Scott Speedman looked scruffy cute next to clean-cut Justin Long while Audrina Patridge showed off her glowing tan in her
LWD.

Apparently this trailer is R-rated, though I can't say I see much of anything too racy in it. The preview for the horror film
The Strangers, does get pretty scary toward the end, though, and I like both her and Scott Speedman, so I'll be interested to see this film when it comes out in October.
The plot outline is pretty basic: "A young couple cozied up in a vacation home are terrorized by three unknown assailants."

We've seen so many Sundance pics that we had to just make a collage of all of the men. Who do you think should take home the Grand Jury prize for favorite male hottie?

It's that time of year again! Sundance Film Festival kicked off this weekend which means all of your favorite indie (and not so indie) actors all got bundled up and headed to Park City, Utah. They will spend their time watching great films, doing some interviews, maybe get some skiing in, and oh yeah get a ton of free stuff while partying all night long.

It's been awhile since we've heard from Liv. It looked like her career was really going to take off after LOTR. Then she did Jersey Girl and Lonesome Jim which meant working with both Afflecks.
