Hollywood's finest work hard to be red-carpet-ready for award season, and one of this year's biggest stars, Kate Winslet, is coping with the pressure by eating whatever she wants. Exercise? She says not now, no way.

Working out is a stress reliever for me, but I can see why someone with such a busy schedule could view exercise as just another thing to add to an already full plate. As for eating what she pleases, Kate is taking comfort in saying yes to whatever sounds good, and the actress has discovered that freedom in her food choices has helped relieve some of the pressure.

Kate Wins Suit Against Glossy!

I have been following Kate Winslet's fight against the British magazine Grazia due to their story that she was seeking outside help to diet.

Kate, as we all know by now, has no tolerance for the fashion industry's size zero culture and wants young women to know that having curves is ok, so she was appalled when the claims came out that she was seeing a diet doctor.

People is reporting that Kate has won an undisclosed amount in libel damages from Grazia. Keeping with her signature grace and poise, Kate told People her thoughts after winning:

"Grazia magazine has apologized to me in full, and admitted that their story was incorrect, which gives me tremendous peace of mind. I feel very strongly that 'curves' are natural, womanly and real.

I shall continue to hope that women are able to believe in themselves for who they are inside, and not feel under such incredible pressure to be unnaturally thin. I am donating the 'damages' given to me by Grazia, to an eating disorder charity."

Yet another reason to love Kate. Congrats Kate!

Kate Winslet Angry Over Reports of Her Dieting

We all know that Kate Winslet has zero tolerance for the fashion industry size zero culture. Although it seemed she had the last word on her weight, she is now upset by being called a dieter.

The BBC is reporting that Kate is planning on suing the weekly magazine Grazia over claims she visited a diet doctor in California. She said:

I'm very upset, it's categorically untrue, it's a complete lie. I don't want people thinking that I would ever go to a diet doctor. I never have done, and I never will."

Kate knows she is a role model for young girls and wants them to know that having a curvy body is natural and that she is happy with the way she looks.

Anyway, if she was dieting (and I am not she saying she is), she did the right thing. It is important to consult with your doctor when starting a weight loss regimen.

Kate Winslet Gets the Last Word

Kate Winslet, one of my faves, was nominated for another Oscar. This is her 5th nomination - WOW.

What a wonderful retort to her early acting teachers that told her she would be relegated to playing "fat girls."
She told reporters that:

"This isn't supposed to happen to a girl who grew up in a tiny town. I was told the only way I'd have a career as an actress would be if I could settle for playing fat girls."

Kate is curvy and sexy and super talented. I think it is wonderful to see a woman succeed in Hollywood with what I consider a normal body.

Kate Has Zero Tolerance...

Here's another reason we love Kate Winslet. The outspoken actress recently told the BBC that she has zero tolerance for the new downsized female body ideal. We all know that she loves her curves and now it seems she wants others to as well.

She is quoted as saying "What I resent is that there is an image of perfection that is getting thinner and thinner...I hope that in some small way I'm able to say 'I'm a normal person, I'm doing all right, I've got a lovely husband and children and I didn't lose weight to find those things, and those things are what should be important'."

Right on Kate! It is great to hear a successful and beautiful actress comfortable with her body.

Speak Up: What Part of Your Body Are You Loving?

Kate Winslet continues to be my body-image idol. Not only does she want to expose the magazine cover glamour-shot relationship with Photoshop, but she has decided to send some love to her backside, rather than critiquing it. Taking a cue from Kate, I wonder two things. First, what part of your body could use a little love? You know, the body part you complain about or wish you could change. For me it is my backside, so I guess Kate and I have something in common.

Secondly, which part of your body do you love? I happen to love my arms. I have always liked the way they look, and I also appreciate how strong they are. They pull my body through water when I swim and lift my giggling girls to the sky. In honor of Valentine's Day, tell me how you will be showing your body some love.

Katherine Heigl in Glamour

I think we are all in agreement that, aside from the disgusting smoking habit, Katherine Heigl seems to have it together.

The folks over at Glamour got the scoop on her weight loss, her own body image and Hollywood's pressures to be thin:

GLAMOUR: Was it hard to lose weight for a role?
KH: It was awful! I remember once reading an article about Jessica Alba-who is the most beautiful, most in-shape person alive-and how committed she was to her regimen. And I thought, There’s no way in hell that will ever be me. I can’t eat only fish and vegetables or work out seven days a week. Then suddenly I was that person and I was shocked. But I could never maintain it. I like food too much!

GLAMOUR: You seem to have a very healthy attitude toward your body. Do you own a scale?
KH: No, because it can make you kind of crazy. I used to weigh myself every day at a certain time of day. Then I would write down the number and measure my body fat. It wasn’t a healthy way to live. Now I can tell if I’ve gained or lost weight just by the way my clothes are fitting. But it’s tempting to buy a scale, because I’d love to know what I weigh. Whatever-I’ll just lie and say 120. [Laughs.]

GLAMOUR: How do you ignore all the messages in Hollywood to stay rail-thin?
KH: When I see some of the people who are glorified in magazines these days-who are so thin it’s bordering on sickness-I just feel exhausted. I would hate to think that young girls in high schools across America think that’s what they’re supposed to look like.

GLAMOUR: Who do you think has a healthy-looking body?
KH: Jennifer Aniston and Halle Berry are both in amazing shape. They look phenomenal but they don’t look sick. Then there’s Kate Winslet: She’s confident, beautiful, talented and sexy and she owns it. Early in my career, I read an interview she gave about how the industry wanted her to lose weight; she basically gave them the finger and said no. I remember thinking, I can do that too. I don’t have to look like one of these genetically superior people in order to work.
