While most of us can't shred on the halfpipe like Olympic medalists Torah Bright and Gretchen Bleiler, we might as well look good trying! Both ladies have teamed up with major activewear brands - Torah with Roxy, Gretchen with Oakley - to design their own lines of stylish, functional outerwear. It's official - I have Olympic fever, like whoa. I've been getting myself acquainted with the athletes and events, and I'll definitely be glued to the set for Friday's opening ceremony. I'm also following my favorite Team USA competitors on Twitter. As they head to Vancouver this week, it's been beyond cool to hear first-person accounts of their training, diets, and inspiration.

I've never been one for a "my country is better than your country" attitude but I love me some Olympics. I always find the games to be an amazing display of athleticism, team spirit, and the potential of the human body. Beyond that, it's astonishing to consider the mental stress these competitors are under.

I'd like to celebrate the women of Team USA with a little meet and greet. If your favorite athlete wasn't highlighted, don't worry! I'll be showcasing more women as we lead into the big event - that's February 12th for those not in the know.

Get Your Butt in Gear: Gretchen Bleiler For Oakley

January is just around the corner, and that means it's time to play in the snow. Are you mountain ready? If you're in need of fresh gear, check out the new collection that snowboarding superstar Gretchen Bleiler designed for Oakley - and you thought they only made sunglasses.

Known for her crazy trick the inverted crippler, Bleiler designed a collection that mixes wild and tame. A jacket she calls The Mane features a faux fur trimmed hood and comes in three colors, one a bright yellow that suggests a lion abstracted. The collection includes basic jackets and pants, all with small details that give them style and flair. The jackets and pants are cut to flatter the female form, and many items are made with recycled polyester. At $250 to $300, the price range might be as steep as the mountains you ride, but style wedded with comfort and warmth is always priceless.

The Inverted Crippler!

The Winter X Games 12 are happening this weekend! Even if you don't board, or even if you hate the snow, you've got to check out the Inverted Crippler. It is a beautiful move! Check out Gretchen Bleiler doing the move that made her famous.

What do you think? I know that this move would cripple me.

Winter X Games 12 Starting Today!

Starting today, Jan. 24, the X Games 12 take over Aspen. Through Jan. 27, be prepared to watch some serious shredding on the slopes. Not only do boarders trick out on the half pipe, but men and women attack the half pipe on skis, too. There will be big air, 1080s in the men's half pipe (that's three turns in one jump), and slopestyle on skis (crazy tricks on skis on a good old-fashioned ski slope).

Keep an eye out for Gretchen Bleiler. She is a 26-year-old boarder who took the silver in the '06 Olympics and has a couple of gold medals from previous X Games too. Not only was she the first woman to land the move known as The Crippler, but she also designs her own line of outerwear, which will be available in the Fall of 2008.
