Since we've all been trying to find ways to make our
workouts recession proof, one way to keep the costs of being healthy down is buying new gear that won't run your budget too low.
From now until Nov. 1, you can score 20 percent off all purchases over $99 or more at
Footlocker.com.

Having not upgraded my armband iPod holder when I upgraded my iPod, my workout wear has been limited to pants, shorts and running skirts with pockets to hold my beloved music player. Heading out for a run shouldn't be a fashion dilemma, so I tried the new
iStik ($27). Using powerful magnets embedded in a hard plastic face plate, you can put your music wherever you want it.

I love a good sale on fitness gear. Right now (through Sunday) you can score an extra 20 percent off the clearance section of the
online Nike store. All you have to do is use the code SEPTCLEAR at checkout.

As the name suggests,
Fatguy Shirts are mostly
aimed at men, but some of these designs (and there are many) clearly have women in mind. On the one hand, I'm all for embracing a healthy body image, but most of these tees just seem mean. What do you think?

Love to hike in the Fall but need new shoes to take you on the trails? You're in luck.
Right now you can instantly save $20 on a $100 order of hiking shoes and boots from Nevados, Hi-Tec, Garmont, or Tecnica on
Endless.com.

One of my favorite online stores,
Gaiam, is having a sale — yay!
Shop
Gaiam's 6th Annual Outlet Sale and save up to 75% off on hundreds of great products for your health. I've got my eyes on this
Anti-burst BalanceBall Set with DVD for only $15.

Time to stock up on new gear.
Sports Authority is having their annual Friends and Family Sale. From August 14 - August 17, 2008 you can get 25% off any single item.

Staying hydrated on the go is certainly important, and the wide variety of products out there to help you sip water on run attest to that. If the water bottle as
a backpack variation or
water bottle amo belt don't do it for you, you may be interested in the water bottle as a bracelet. The
Hydrosport ($18.45) is similar to the
QuickDraw Water Bottle, the water bottle with hand straps, but Hydrosport allows you to be completely hands-free since they wrap around your wrists.

While the majority of you were
not big fans of the Olympic gear designed by Ralph Lauren, there were many of you who were. For those of you who'd like to own Olympic goodies and sport the same clothes the Olympians will be wearing during the opening ceremony, Ralph Lauren is now selling the collection online. While I am not sure I want to be wearing a shirt with "BEIJING" across my chest, I do think the little red, white, and blue belt is kind of cute.

Product rating powerhouse
Consumer Reports has tested 205 pairs of men's and women's running shoes in an effort to find the best. Overall they found that the Nike Air Zoom Vomero+2 (pictured here) was the best running shoe for
men ($120) and
women ($120). Not only does it have excellent cushioning, but it also was praised for its quality fit.
