Hello Doc,
My mother is 50 years old and has never had a mammogram. She has lived in Florida for about 26 years now and has not had health insurance since my father passed away seven years ago.

Do you have trouble breathing when you walk or do simple chores? Do you cough at night? Does your chest feel tight or do you ever have trouble taking a good, deep breath?

Off the top of my head I can't remember the last time I've seen British bombshell Elizabeth Hurley on screen, but for good reason — she's packed everything up Green Acres style. The former actress has left the high life of London to live on a 400-acre organic farm in Gloucestershire where she shares space with cattle, poultry, sheep, and pigs.
She's not stopping there either.

In recognition of Skin Cancer Awareness Month this May, Olay and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery have joined forces for the third year for "Skin Cancer Takes Friends."

May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month, which means it's time to check out how well (or unwell) you breathe.
During May, adults and children across the United States will be able to get checked for asthma during the 11th annual Nationwide Asthma Screening Program, sponsored by the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. During a screening, adults complete a 20-question test developed by the ACAAI for the program, while children under age 15 fill out a test designed for them (there's also another version that parents fill out for children up to 8 years old).

I was lucky enough to hit the Reel Rock Film Tour — an annual showcase of the best new films about climbing — when it passed through San Francisco this weekend. Highlights of the festival include the world premiere of Progression and a preview of First Ascent, a new series for the Nat Geo Adventure Channel.
Climber or not, the Reel Rock festival is a must see for adrenaline junkies, outdoor enthusiasts, film lovers, and those seeking some kick ass motivation.

Since I recently got an iPhone, I was looking for a hands-free case to carry it in while I work out. When I found out this Sport 20 made by Armpocket ($30) was eco-friendly, made of bamboo and 100 percent recycled PET fabric (which is made from discarded plastic water bottles), I had to try it. This case instantly became my new favorite fitness accessory.

New Guidelines for Localized Prostate Cancer
In 2007, the American Urological Association (AUA) released updated guidelines for treatment of localized prostate cancer. The guidelines recommend that:
- Patients should be classified as low, intermediate, or high risk, depending on their PSA levels, cancer stage, and tumor aggressiveness.
- Doctors need to consider patients’ personal preferences and quality of life concerns as well as their clinical status.
- Standard treatment options include active surveillance (watchful waiting), surgery, or radiation therapy. Initial androgen deprivation therapy (hormone therapy) is seldom recommended for localized prostate cancer.
New Guidelines for Androgen Deprivation Therapy
- The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2007 guidelines recommend that doctors delay androgen deprivation therapy for advanced prostate cancer until patients develop symptoms.
