I know we are not supposed to love material possessions, but right now I am carrying on a hot and steamy affair with my new road bike.
I mean hot and steamy as in burning up the calories and sweating profusely — and it's wonderful. Yep, I took the plunge and upgraded from my 10-year-old hybrid to a sweet ride by Specialized.

This weekend, I shopped vicariously through my husband. He bought himself a sweet road bike, after riding on an old (read heavy) mountain bike for years. This new bike cost a pretty penny, but he sold a bunch of old musical equipment to cover the costs.

If you choose your hiking boots carefully, you can wear the same pair for years. But tracking down the perfect pair is easier said than done. I recently purchased a new pair of hikers, and they seem promising; I'll know after I break them in!

With the price of gym memberships rising, we're all looking for a less expensive way to burn calories and stay fit. Instead of putting your foot down and refusing to pay, put that foot to good use and practice Parkour —your fitness props become the things around you like benches, railings, trees, walls, stairs, and fences. This extreme sport involves leaping over, climbing up, and rolling off theses common structures and using them as your playground, all without any protective gear.

If you're too hot to run, bike, or hike outside, but you still want to enjoy the Summer weather, exercising on water is a great way to beat the heat. Kayaking is one of my favorite water sports because it's safe to do alone, or if you prefer some company, you can kayak with a group of people.

- The impact of stress on the heart and circulation system is becoming more clear.

The latest season of The Biggest Loser is rolling along, and what better way to celebrate, or tempt, the contestants than with a road trip. The families were treated to a trip to the glories of the Grand Canyon.
Possibly daunted by the sheer beauty of their surroundings, the contestants were unable to figure out how to work out without a gym, even though Ali left workout gear for them — medicine balls, resistance bands, and pads.
