Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate! I tried to fill my family's Easter baskets with healthy things like fruit, trail mix, and homemade cookies to avoid sugar-overload, but it didn't matter. In the afternoon, we went to an Easter egg hunt party and were inundated with jellybeans, homemade sugar cookies in the shape of bunnies, marshmallow Peeps, pink candy corns, enormous chocolate bunnies, and Cadbury Creme eggs. I definitely enjoyed some candy and sweets. What about you?

Pastel coated candy and egg shaped chocolate are tasty April indulgences, and there's a chance you're still on a sugar high from the holiday weekend. When you head to the store to buy ingredients for this week's healthy meals, resist the urge to pick up bags of discounted candy.

It's easier to justify spending money on junk food when it's half-priced. While that bag of peanut butter filled chocolate goodness costs less than it did just yesterday, it still has the same number of calories. Many of us have a difficult time passing something up when it's a good deal, but don't compromise your healthy eating habits by buying bags of candy to simply have on hand. There's a good chance your hand will be reaching for that candy when you'd normally opt for something else.

Product of the Day: Easter Bunny Glo Popcifier

For the raver who celebrates Easter! Sure, Katie Sugar looked longingly at this candy when I walked by, but this toy (for ages five and up) isn't designed for paci-aged kids.

Perhaps this light-up lollipop/pacifier has the best intentions, but I can't shake my mental image of some clubber kid whiling away his Sunday ecstasy roll by sucking on the Easter bunny's head.

I happen to think that knowing a plethora of nonsensical information is an incredibly fun conversation starter, especially in awkward or uncomfortable moments. Although DearSugar may not approve, I'm all for avoiding horrid questions by quickly changing the subject. I mean how else do you deal when you're at your family's Easter brunch and your uncle asks you how your job is going and you were fired the week before?
