Many an A-lister made the trek to Dubai today to celebrate the grand opening of the Atlantis Palm Resort. Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson
traveled from London to join Sam's mother Ann Dexter-Jones, while Mischa Barton will show up anywhere there's a red carpet. The eclectic crew, which included Mary-Kate Olsen all draped in white, Gerard Butler, Charlize Theron, and Stuart Townsend, was treated to dinner and an elaborate performance from Kylie Minogue.

A-listers were out in force last night for the lavish opening of the Atlantis Palm Resort and Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, with Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton and Mary-Kate Olson
slipping on their gladrags. Us Brits were represented by a suave Gerard Butler, glittering Agyness Deyn and graceful Lily Allen, who left the
balloons at home and accessorised with Rhys Ifans and a reported
£5 million of Chopard jewellery. Wowzers.

Not that I expect any less from Charlize Theron, but the actress turned up to the
2008 CFDA Awards in a flawless Christian Dior Couture sequined
LBD. She decked her neck in diamonds and dressed her feet with gold studded sandals. What's your verdict?

The lush green background made the dresses stand out at last night's CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund event in NYC, where
Alexander Wang took home the prize;
check out all the other winners here. Anna Wintour, who
may be considering retirement, hosted some of Manhattan's pretty young things at the soiree. Blake Lively and Penn Badgley traveled as a duo as usual, though they never pose together.

Last night, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue, held their fifth annual Fashion Fund extravaganza in New York City. The big winner was
Alexander Wang who won $200,000 along with a year of mentoring. The runner-ups were Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai (Vena Cava) and Albertus Q.

Charlize Theron kept her famous blond hair tucked up into her hat on her way out of the salon in LA earlier this week. The actress played coy for the cameras but has a new high profile position to be proud of — on Friday she was
named UN Peace Messenger. She will be focusing on violence against women, a cause close to her heart considering her history.

Wow, this is intriguing:
Nicole Kidman is set to play "the world's first post-op transsexual" in The Danish Girl, which will be based on the true story of Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener. The Hollywood Reporter has details:
Their marriage took a sharp left turn after Einar (Kidman) stood in for an female model that Greta ([Charlize] Theron) was set to paint.
When their portraits become wildly popular in 1920s Copenhagen, Greta encouraged her husband to adopt the female guise.
