Celebrity BMIs Suggest the Numbers Can Be Misleading

When you're striving to achieve a healthy weight, it's natural to look for guidance about what exactly that means for your body. While the jeans test is telling in terms of your body's changes, your pants can't tell you how many pounds you might need to lose or gain to get to your best weight.

For years, we turned to the body mass index (BMI) formula for a clue about where we fall on the health curve, but the calculation doesn't differentiate between the weight of muscle from fat and therefore isn't as trusted as it used to be.

Health.com recruited its top two nutrition experts to calculate the BMIs of seven celebrities by analyzing their photos. The experts were told each celebrity's height measurements but used weight estimates, so their calculations aren't 100 percent accurate. Still, the results offer some surprising insight about the accuracy of BMIs. To see their approximate BMI calculations for celebs and athletes like Beyonce and Tony Romo, read more.

Liv Tyler Agrees That Size Zero is Unhealthy

Liv Tyler recently talked about dieting and motherhood. She said, "I've been on a diet my whole life." Being in the public eye, she spent years worrying about her weight, that is, until she became a mom.

Many women can relate, comparing themselves to skinny models, and forever being on a diet and working out to shed pounds. The thing is, models are getting skinnier, so women think they need to too, even though it's unhealthy for their bodies and their self-esteem.

Liv Tyler doesn't agree with it. She said,"I definitely think the girls look too skinny now. I'm friends with Helena Christensen and Linda Evangelista, and I remember Linda telling me that when she was a model (in the '90s), a sample size was a 6 or an 8. Now a sample dress size is a 0 or a 2. That's pretty alarming. There's a lot of pressure on the models. It's not healthy. I can't even imagine what that's like."

I'd like to find inspiration in Liv's thoughts and in her sister, Mia Tyler. She's a gorgeous and sexy plus-size model who's healthy and confident. It's great to see celebrities who represent real women. You know, for all of us who'll never have a model's strict BMI, not because we can't, but because we know it's unhealthy.

Aqua2Go Back on Ellen!

You guys were loving Aqua2go, the great new water in a juice box and so I wanted to let you know that the creator, Stacey, is going to be on The Ellen Show again this Wednesday! How cool is that?

Water in a juice box is such a great concept, I can't help telling everyone I know about it. What's more? Aqua2go in the Tetra Brik Aseptic package has been selected to be among the beverages sampled in the Melanie Segal Platinum Luxury V.I.P. Gifting Suite in Celebration of the Oscars! And who happens to be the host of the show? You've guessed it, Ellen. Visit the Aqua2go site to find out where you can buy the famous water in a box.

How much water, in a box or not, should you be drinking? Not sure, then check out the Fit Calculator to find out. With the calculator you can also find out how many calories you should be eating in day, what your target heart rate is and where your Body Mass Index (BMI) is.
