Apr 8 2008 - 4:00am Kelly Ripa is ripped (I never get sick of saying that). From her arms, to her legs, to her flat belly (after three kids, to boot) she's got it going on. I've always wanted to know what she does to keep so fit so I was thrilled to see that she led us all, including Anderson Cooper, through a sample workout.

Sorry, definately not a fan of the Ripped one. I think she is cute and all. . . that said she smoked most of her life. What is she 38? She admits she never worked out until like 2 years ago. But she was still super skinny because she didn't eat. To me she is an attention junky and will do about anything to get it (including starve herself). And those thigh exercises? Get real. The tricep ones are not anything new.
Is she really a picture of health? I would really like to know what she eats (or doesn't). Skinny does not necessarily equate with healthy.

5I love Kelly Ripa. Anyone who isn't afraid to look silly in front of people, I'm a fan of. I don't see how you can look at her and say she isn't healthy. She isn't skinny like anorexic models, she's got muscles and is fit in a way that doesn't just come from starving yourself. The girl obviously works out.

8Yeah, I actually admire Anderson for NOT going along with the crowd! I can totally relate with not wanting to draw attention to oneself. Some people are just more introverted than others although I know in todays society it is much more accepted to lay it all out there!
There is such a thing as having a good time and the Regis Show is casual. But Anderson does a News Show and I applaud him for not going against what he deems appropriate and comfortable. Rotating and grinding for some is a tad out of bounds for TV!

thought it was funny and it seems like she picked out moves that would make him uncomfortable! lol. especially all the gyrating. oh kelly.
She IS skinny but she's definitely not Kate Moss skinny (ala heroine chic) and those are muscles on her little body.

12No grudge here.. I actually like watching her on Live with Regis. I just don't think she has an attractive figure.
13I'm not going to Kelly-bash, because I'm built a lot like her and to have people say that slim women have no sex appeal, no shape, etc., is really annoying to me. You can't change your genes, no matter how hard you try. I feel bad for Kelly...she's obviously got a small chest and you can tell that she tries to compensate for it by doing lots of pec exercises.
14I take the same class as kelly ripa in nyc, check out www.physique57.com. and it is amazing. I have been taking the class 3-4 x a week for a little over a month and my body is transforming.my core is more defined than it ever has been! I have taken pilates, practiced yoga, and ran for years and nothing has made me feel as amazing as physique. I feel strong, fit and energized! i feel great in all my clothes. these exercises are based on the lotte berk technique ( bar method is almost the same). I can not recommend this class enough!!!!!!!!
15Damn! I didn't know Anderson was so ripped, himself! I'm in love with him all over again.
As for those moves, this is just like the Lotte Berke Method... almost exactly. Lotte Berke rocks, it's great for those days I don't quite want to drag myself to the gym, but want to get a good workout that I'll even feel the next day. SJP does it, too!
Threadbythread, I am SO envious that you get to take the physique class. I've heard such great things. Tell them to start up in SF!

17Anderson shouldn't have done it if he wasn't willing to look silly -- he looked just as stupid not doing it.
For the zillionth time -- not having boobs or a butt doesn't mean you're not healthy. A lot of people (myself included) will never have the hourglass figure, get over it.
That said, it's widely rumored that Kelly Ripa uses uppers to supress her appetite and give her energy. So it can't all be credited to power plies.
18If I could go back and restate my butt/boobs comment this is what I *should* have said to begin with;
Kelly used to have such a cute figure with just the right amount of muscle and perfectly toned. But she's so skinny and harsh looking now... and to me it looks like she exercised her butt and boobs down to nothing, maybe by pumping too much iron, taking enhancements, I dunno.
Of course not everyone has an hourglass figure. It does not mean that I'm implying everything/everyone else is unhealthy (or unattractive). My statement no butt/no boobs was in comparison to what she used to look like, compared to now. Is this making any sense? Anyhooo there's obvious hostility towards my comments ... not what I intended at all and for that I apologize.
19dunnonuttin thanks for the clarification -- I didn't mean to be hostile toward your statement, and your point is taken.
I just think that in general there is a double-standard with critiquing women's bodies that should be addressed. Thin/skinny/petite women are sometimes considered fair game, but it's still a form of objectifying women; their size doesn't matter. And since nearly everyone in Hollywood has a boob job, a woman with a natural A cup can look emaciated -- but in fact that is a natural figure for some people.
I would really love it if more people with compulsive exercize addictions or food fixations/disorders would get help and BE HONEST ABOUT IT because it needs treatment, and lying perpetuates the culture of unreleastic pressures. But I think those people need to come forward first because to speculate about their issues without insider knowledge is dangerous territory.

23I just took my first physique 57 class today, and I loved it. It is A LOT harder than it looks, but I;ve already signed up for more.

26Love Anderson's reactions and I don't think Kelly is too skinny. She's a very short woman like myself. Her body weight and height ratio seem to be alright. If she was much taller then I'd probably say she needed to pack on a few more pounds.

30Muscle or not Kelly needs to eat. The tv adds about 20lbs which makes her about 100lbs.
31I spent more time laughing at Anderson Cooper's reactions to Kelly Rippa's exercises than I did getting the moves down. But I like the suggestion to work out at home using as little machinery as possible.
