Exercise Your Political Power and Walk the Vote

It is election day here in the US, and it is time to exercise your political power. I suggest walking to your polling station to exercise your body a bit too. If you have to stand and wait in a long line, the walk will be good for your metabolism, since being sedentary slows down your calorie burning potential. The A-Listers of Hollywood urge you to get out and vote, too.

Anxious about the results? Don't just sit around glued to the TV this evening. Calm your body with a good cardio session or at least use your TV time to stretch.

Speak Up: Is Obama Too Fit?

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal questions Barack Obama's ability to run our nation. Not because of his views on the war or on taxes, but because he is too fit. WTF?

In a country where 66 percent of the voting-age population are overweight and 32 percent are obese, could Obama's fitness be an issue? Obama openly claims to work out and eat healthy - and he's even quit smoking (yay!). Folks are wondering if Obama is too hard to relate to as more than half of the nation is struggling with weight issues. John McCain on the other hand, doesn't lift weights (cause he can't due to an injury) and has expressed his love for junk food. Obviously, I think that having a fit president would be fabulous, but as much as I love health and fitness it's not going to be a factor in who I vote for.

So what do you guys think about all this? Do you care about our next president's health? Does it matter to you if he does or does not work out, or if he does or does not eat junk food? Do you think that being overly fit could hurt a presidential candidate's chances of taking over the White House? Speak up and share your thoughts below.

The Candidates Weigh in on Health Issues

The 2008 presidential election is nearly one year away and I think it's going to be a rather interesting year watching what progresses with the candidates. One thing that I am most interested in when deciding who I will vote for is their platform on health care. With so many candidates out there right now, it's tough to keep all the facts (and all the BS) straight, so I was pretty psyched to find Health08.org.

Health08.org is an online site brought to us by the Kaiser Family Foundation that provides an analysis of all the health care issues addressed by the presidential candidates (including latest news topics). It's a great way to help you to start informing yourself before you actually hit the polls next November.
