We loved a lot about the lightweight minimalist New Balance 890 shoes, including the fact that we felt we could really connect with the ground when running in them. But while they provided ample cushioning, we like them way better on the treadmill than outside for long runs — they lacked enough to keep our knees happy after five miles on the asphalt.
