Not Only Is Nina Dobrev a People's Choice Winner, She's a Fit Inspiration

Nina Dobrev is having a moment. Besides today being her birthday and her being a major star on the rise, she's also just picked up a People's Choice Award for her work on The Vampire Diaries. And if that's not enough bragging rights, Nina, 25, is one of our favorite fit TV actresses. Not only is in the gym challenging herself with demanding total-body workouts with trainer Steve Moyer, Nina is constantly mixing up her fitness routine in creative, fun ways.

No Excuses

No Excuses

If freezing temps are keeping you from your regular runs, take a page from Nina's book and embrace the season for all it has to offer. The actress recently suited up with a few famous friends — Julianne and Derek Hough — and took to the slopes for a little snowboarding action. After a day on the slopes, make sure you take care of yourself with these soothing stretches and yoga poses.

Keep It Varied

Boredom kills motivation — think about how you might feel doing the same treadmill run every day, at the same time, and at the same pace. That's going to get stale pretty quickly.

Nina may be a yogi at heart, but she keeps motivated by trying just about everything. Besides hitting the gym, she's been seen surfing, rock climbing, and running.

Make It a Date

Make It a Date

One of the easiest ways to stay committed to your fitness goals is to find a friend — or two! — that you can work out with. Nina told Seventeen that she's taken several of her Vampire Diaries costars along with her to hot yoga, and based on this photo she snapped during a trip last year, it looks like she surrounds herself with a healthy group!

Make It Routine

Make It Routine

Make like Nina and choose a bike the next time you need to get somewhere. If that's not up your alley, make running a part of your weekend schedule or start each day with a healthy smoothie — whatever you choose, make something healthy part of your everyday routine.

Clean Eats

Clean Eats

There's no need for a diet in Nina's life; she just makes a point to eat clean (we're digging this kale salad of hers). Nina's trainer, Steve Moyer, says that the actress focuses on meals that are a healthy balance of carbs (yes, carbs!), protein, and lots of vegetables. There's nothing too restricitve about it and she keeps the emphasis off counting calories.
