Midnight in Paris

Woody Allen directed this magical film about a starry-eyed writer (Owen Wilson) visiting Paris with his fiancée (Rachel McAdams). When he discovers a way to experience the dreamy Paris of the 1920s and its icons, he questions his happiness in the present day. This romantic movie is a delightful confection that will make you fall for Paris, Wilson, and director Allen (and it's been racking up award season nominations). The DVD includes a featurette about a press conference for the film at the Cannes Film Festival.

Warrior

Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton play estranged brothers, one a former soldier and the other a family man hurting for money, in this drama about mixed martial arts. When the brothers end up in the same MMA tournament competing for a cash prize, they are forced to face each other inside the ring, along with their family problems outside of it. The movie has a satisfying emotional punch and a knockout performance from Nick Nolte as the men's father. The extras on the DVDs include deleted scenes, two commentary tracks, and a few making-of featurettes.

Moviegoers have caught Contagion fever: the film took the number one spot at the box office in its opening weekend, earning $23.1 million. The new movie weakened The Help, which lost its number one spot for the first time in three weeks, dropping to number two with $8.7 million. Warrior didn't fare well against the competition, coming in third with $5.6 million in its debut weekend. The Debt dropped from second to fourth place in its second week with $4.9 million, followed closely by Colombiana, which took in $4 million.

Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton are beefed up as two mixed martial arts fighters in this weekend's new release Warrior. There are plenty of scenes with the macho men sparring within the ring, but can you expect any compelling action once they step out of it? Watch our video review to find out if you should watch, pass, or rent this sports drama.

Warrior: An Emotional Knockout

A lot of sports movies focus on underdogs, and while Warrior is no exception, it offers much more than a tale of athletes facing incredible odds.

A lot of sports movies focus on underdogs, and while Warrior is no exception, it offers much more than a tale of athletes facing incredible odds. Brendan (Joel Edgerton) and Tommy Conlon (Tom Hardy) are two estranged brothers who find themselves training for the same mixed martial arts competition with a $5 million dollar prize. After physics teacher Brendan is suspended from his job without pay, he goes after the prize money so that his family can keep their home. Former Marine Tommy, who has suddenly returned from his service in Afghanistan, is also anxious to get a hold of the cash, though his motives aren't immediately clear. When they finally step into the caged ring, you're just as concerned with the outcome of the physical battle as you are with the emotional one that has broken the family.

As the pair prepares for the fight, they cross paths with their reformed alcoholic father Paddy (Nick Nolte). Tommy decides to train with him, despite the fact that he loathes his dad, while Brendan resists a relationship with him when the old man attempts to apologize for his wrongdoings. The familial rift that has caused these men to grow apart is revealed slowly, and done in such a way that you become emotionally invested in each fighter. I was surprised that a movie about cage fighting could capture the strained dynamic between brothers so well. Tom Hardy Fights His Brother For Glory in the Warrior Trailer

In case The Fighter made you hungry for more dramas about how a few punches can bring brothers together, the Warrior trailer is at your service.

In case The Fighter made you hungry for more dramas about how a few punches can bring brothers together, the Warrior trailer is at your service. Inception star Tom Hardy plays Tom Conlon, a former soldier who has recently returned from being deployed overseas. He shares the screen with Joel Edgerton as his brother Brendan, a family man who's now a teacher. Though they seem to have nothing in common, they both have a passion for mixed martial arts. The trailer shows their path to the ring as they face each other in an MMA tournament, but it seems that it may actually bring them together — complete with inspiring music as their soundtrack. Nick Nolte and Jennifer Morrison also costar as the guys' father and Brendan's wife, Tess, respectively.

Though I'm more excited about Hardy's roles in The Dark Knight Rises and The Wettest County in the World, I do like seeing him with more screen time (and the muscles don't hurt, either). The film comes out Sept. 9, but watch the trailer now when you read more

Strike a Yoga Pose: Warrior 2

You can't go to a yoga class and NOT do this pose.

You can't go to a yoga class and NOT do this pose. It's called Warrior 2 and it's great for opening tight hips and shoulders and strengthening quads, calves, and shins. It also works your core muscles, because when you're in this pose, you really have to concentrate on elongating your spine and drawing your belly in.

  • You can get into this pose from Downward Facing Dog. Step your right foot forward between your palms, and come into Warrior 1.
  • After creating a strong base with your feet and lower body, open your hips, arms, and chest, coming into Warrior 2. Ideally you want your front thigh to be parallel to the ground, and your right knee directly over your right ankle.
  • Press into the outside edge of your left foot to prevent from collapsing into the arch of your foot. Make sure your shoulders are stacked directly above your pelvis.
  • Once you've checked yourself for correct alignment, you can gaze passed your right fingertips. Hold for 5 or more breaths, return to Downward Facing Dog before stepping your left foot forward for the other side.
  • Fit's Tips: Just so you know, when I first learned this pose, I couldn't stand it because it was so hard to hold. My thigh muscles burned after 2 breaths. As you practice it more, you'll build strength in your legs, and you'll really feel your hips beginning to open. Now I can't get enough!
