Tacos are such a great dinner option. They're easy to make, you can fill them with just about anything, and they're low in carbs and calories. Since I'm a fan of Garden of Eatin', I decided to try out their Blue Corn Taco Dinner Kit. Want to know what I thought? Then read more
We last spotted these two picking out a tree with their two footed family members Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell, but now they're doubling up as a workout for mom! For fans of these pooches (I know I am!), that's Taco on the left and the caramel-colored, Better, on the right. The furry poodle mixes are somberly sleek on their way from a private groomer in Calabasas, so sleek perhaps that their little freshly washed paws can't even touch the ground. No matter what, they're cuter and fluffier than ever – maybe they had a blowout, too?!
Have you heard about Taco Bell's "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco" promotion? This Tex-Mex chain announced that if any player stole a base during a game in the World Series, they'd give everyone in America a free crunchy seasoned beef taco.
Well, since Jacoby Ellsbury of the Boston Red Sox stole a base in the fourth inning of the second game, now anyone in America can show up at their local taco Bell on Tuesday, October 30, and get one free taco (between 2-5 pm).
Who doesn't love free stuff? Free is fabulous, and I'm a sucker for free giveaways, but just because something is free, doesn't mean it's healthy for you. Just out of curiosity, want to know how much saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium that free taco will get you? Then read more
Many of us pick fast food places like Chipotle because we think that it is the healthy alternative to other restaurants on the go. It can be, but you have to choose wisely so before you head out to Chipotle, I've broken the menu down from the nutrition chart below.
So say you get a burrito with chicken, rice, black beans, cheese, sour cream and guacamole; you're looking at about 1,319 calories. [gasp]
Do yourself a favor and get a bowl (no wrap), with chicken and fajita veggies, tomato salsa and lettuce -- Skip the rice, cheese, sour cream and guacamole and it will only be 349 calories.
Everyone has made a run for the border at some point or another. To make sure you're prepared for your next trip to Taco Bell, I've broken down some of the popular menu items.
You should probably stick to the Crunchy Taco's Fresco Style (no cheese) as one has 150 calories, 7 grams of fat, 0.5 grams of trans fat, 360 mg of sodium and 14 grams of carbs. (*The soft taco fresco style weighs in with 190 calories)
You could also go for the Chicken Gordita Fresco Style which has 230 calories, 6 grams of fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 570 mg of sodium and 29 grams of carbs.
You definitely do not want to get the Fiesta Taco Salad as it packs in 860 calories, 46 grams of fat, 5 grams of trans fat, 1800 mg of sodium and 82 grams of carbs. (*The salad without the shell still has 490 calories!)
Fit's Tip: Watch out for condiments like sour cream and baja style sauce, they will pack on the extra calories!
