P.L.O.W. — Duets for Your Interval Workout

Music moves me. It speaks to me, and sometimes it's not a good beat I need, but rather a beautiful melody and lyrics to get me going.

Music moves me. It speaks to me, and sometimes it's not a good beat I need, but rather a beautiful melody and lyrics to get me going. There's also something special about two voices singing together, so I've compiled a list of my favorite duets. This playlist begins and ends with two walking songs, and then alternates between sappy (yes, somewhat cheesy, I'll admit) love songs and peppy upbeat tunes. So you can switch it up between walking and running.

P.L.O.W.— Sun and Rain Interval Mix

March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.

March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. Hopefully the weather patterns, the rainy days and the sunny days, will become more predictable soon. To help sort things out, I made a sunny day/rainy day playlist and it is perfect for cardio intervals. For the songs with "rain" or rain related paraphernalia in the title you either walk briskly or run at RPE (rate of perceived exertion) of a 4 to 5. For the sunny songs, you need to pick up the pace and start to jog if you have been walking, or bump it up to RPE of 7 to 8. Sounds like fun, no?

P.L.O.W. — Serena Williams' Interval Run

iTunes recently featured the music that Serena Williams uses to achieve her speed and endurance during runs and while I may not agree with the way Serena handles losing, I am liking her taste in running music.

P.L.O.W.—Walking and Running

When you decide to add running to your cardio routine, I think the best method is to mix walking with running and methodically cut down the walking time while increasing the running time.

When you decide to add running to your cardio routine, I think the best method is to mix walking with running and methodically cut down the walking time while increasing the running time. Eventually you will be just running and because you have taken the time to build up your overall stamina you will be ready.

Here's a play list to guide your walking / running workout. If the song has the word "walk" in the title, just walk and if the song title contains the word "run" - pick up the pace and run or jog. Think of this workout as a musical version of the game Simon Says. This mix also works wonders for straight up running. No matter your poison medicine, this music mix will get you moving!

"Walk this Way" - Run DMC, 5:10
"Running with the Devil" - Van Halen, 3:36
"Walk Away" - Franz Ferdinand, 3:37

"Walk It Out" - Unk, 2:59
"Running on Sunshine" - Jesus Jackson, 4:54
"Take a Walk on the Wild Side" - Lou Reed, 4:10

Total P.L.O.W. = 43:10
