Let's Dish: What Frozen Foods Do You Eat?

Although the items in my freezer are kept to a minimum (meaning it's generally pretty clean), I do have a weakness for one frozen food in particular: Stouffer's French Bread Pepperoni Pizza.

Next Up For Top Chef's Fabio: TV Show, Frozen Pizza Line

Well, Fabio wasn't lying when he told us, "unfortunately, you're going to see my face a lot."

Well, Fabio wasn't lying when he told us, "unfortunately, you're going to see my face a lot." When we last spoke to the charismatic Top Chef contestant, he mentioned that he had an offer for a TV show and a line of food coming out. Now the star himself has confirmed to at least one source that he will be starring in his own TV show. Although he stayed mum on the concept, Fabio promised that more details would be public by April.

Additionally, Dr. Oetker, one of Europe's top frozen pizza brands, is launching its Ristorante line in America, and has called on the reality TV personality to be the spokesperson for the thin-crust pizza. "We feel Fabio is the perfect voice for the brand," Dr. Oetker USA said in a statement. "He has an incredible personality and a real passion for cooking."

The Florence-born chef, who will tour with the pizza line this Summer, also recalls the frozen pizza from his childhood. "Growing up in Italy, my mom often had Dr. Oetker's products in the home," Fabio said in the same statement. "I'm excited to help introduce Ristorante frozen pizzas to American households."

I'm curious to know if you think Fabio could be a lasting food figure. Do you plan to try the frozen pizzas he's hawking, and will you watch his new TV show?

Food Review: Frontera Four Cheese Pizza

For a quick meal, pizza is definitely a party pleaser with my entire family including me.

For a quick meal, pizza is definitely a party pleaser with my entire family including me. Pizzeria pizza might be delicious, but who knows how many calories are in a slice. Since making my own pizza isn't always an option, I like to keep some frozen pizzas for when I am in a dinner pinch.

I just tried a Frontera Stone Fired Pizza ($7.99), and I think you might be interested to hear what I thought of this pie, so read more

Kashi Thin-Crust Pizza: Roasted Vegetable

I really enjoyed the Kashi's frozen pizzas I tried awhile ago.

I really enjoyed the Kashi's frozen pizzas I tried awhile ago. When I saw that they make a thin-crust pizza, I just has to try it. The diameter of the thin-crust pizza is larger than their regular one, but since the crust is thinner, two slices equals about the same amount of calories as two slices of the regular-crust pizza.

Totino's/Jeno's Frozen Pizza Recall!

I've been laying off doing a post on every single product recall, but when I saw that there was a frozen pizza recall, I figured I should let you guys know, because I know how popular these pizzas are.

I've been laying off doing a post on every single product recall, but when I saw that there was a frozen pizza recall, I figured I should let you guys know, because I know how popular these pizzas are. (I, for one, lived off them in college.)

General Mills announced today that it has recalled about 5 million frozen pizzas sold nationwide under the Totino's and Jeno's labels because of possible E. coli contamination. The voluntary recall covers pizzas containing pepperoni that have been produced since July.

The company asks consumers to throw away recalled pizzas. You can get replacements by clipping the bar code from the box and mailing it with your name and address to Totino's/Jeno's, P.O. Box 200 _ Pizza, Minneapolis, MN 55440-0200.

Let me also take this opportunity to let you know that six Totino's Pepperoni Pizza Rolls have a whopping 210 calories, 2.5 grams saturated fat, 1.5 grams trans fat, and 480 mg of sodium. Half of the Totino's Pepperoni Party Pizza (you know you can eat half easily) has 360 calories, 5 grams saturated fat, 4 grams trans fat, and 870 mg sodium. My suggestion? Throw them all away and never look back. If you're not ready to totally give up frozen pizza, then check out Kashi frozen pizza for a healthier alternative.

Kashi Frozen Pizza: Five Cheese Tomato

Kashi is one of my favorite companies.

Kashi is one of my favorite companies. They have a reputation for making wholesome food that's healthy and full of taste. I love their crackers, cereals, waffles, chewy granola bars, their yummy frozen entrees, and hark, what is that I see? Frozen pizzas? I could not wait to give these a try.

The pizza crust is made from Kashi's signature blend of seven whole grains and sesame. The crust is fortified with flaxseed, a source of alpha-linoleic acid that's believed to reduce the risk of heart disease. OK, but how does it taste and how nutritious is it? To find out read more
