Kendra Spears Spurs Lawsuit, Feud Among Agencies
>> Kendra Spears, the promising 20-year-old Seattle-born model talent who is rumored to be one of the upcoming Fall 2009 Prada faces and has been called "one of the most supermodel-esque new faces to emerge in a long while" by Models.com — she has a mole above her lip, causing her to be billed "the next Cindy Crawford" — is now at the center of a lawsuit.
Kendra, who was discovered by Ford Models on MySpace last year and was then a finalist in the agency's Supermodel of the World competition, recently jumped ship to Next, spurring Ford to sue both Next and Spears (the former for poaching the model, the latter for breaching her contract — which was supposed to span three years).
The lawsuit, filed Tuesday, reads:
Kendra Spears is one of the shining stars of the Ford development system. Signed as a prospect while still a teenager in braces, for more than a year, Ford has painstakingly cultivated Spears — literally, taught her how to be an international fashion model. She was not a high-fashion model. In fact, she was an unknown — a teenager with braces, with no modeling experience to speak of.
She is a beautiful, fresh, all-American 'face' who, having been discovered by Ford, trained by Ford, and professionally developed by Ford, is at the precipice of a breakthrough. She is about to become one of a handful of the world's most sought-after high fashion models.
A look at some of her recent work, below.

So You Want to V a Model?
Aspiring femme models, listen up. V Magazine and Ford Models have joined forces to discover the latest face of fashion, and it can be you. V a Model contest, which discovered Amanda Laine (left) last year, is asking prospective models to submit photos online from now until June. Winning means getting signed with Ford Models; that's huge. Since her win, Amanda has been catapulted into the international spotlight working with greats like Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, and Balenciaga. Good luck ladies and may the best face win.
>> RIP — Gerard "Jerry" Ford, who with his wife Eileen Ford created Ford Models, passed away on Sunday at 83. He is credited with creating modeling contracts to promote brand exclusivity, and represented such big names as Lauren Hutton, Christie Brinkley, Veronica Webb and Kristen McMenamy over the years. Another Great Ford Model Fitness Video
I've highlighted a few Ford Model Fitness Videos because they actually do provide some great ideas for working out. The latest video I've come across is a butt workout with Kim Strother. Watch and think about integrating any of the exercises into your own butt workout.
On an interesting side note, Kim has recently been linked to cyclist Lance Armstrong.
Coconut Oil: The Secret To Model-Like Hair and Skin?
Ford Models has been uploading videos of its models to the Web, and I get such a kick out of seeing what the models have to say. I'll be honest: Some of them have that (unintentional?) I'm-so-beautiful thing going on, and the last thing I need is to see a bikini model prancing around in a fitting room. With that said, though, some of the videos are really fun. This one features Shana, a Costa Rican model who incorporates coconut oil into her beauty routine. Check it out:
Of course, having genetic gifts doesn't hurt, either...
Ball Workout From Ford Models
I am really getting into these short little workouts from Kim and Ford Models. They're easy to understand and relatively fun to do, so check it out.
Most gyms have fitness balls, but you can always purchase your own. I love the ballast ball because it is weighted so it stays in place where you put it.
Also, I've posted a few more videos from Ford Models so check them out here.
More Fitness From Ford Models
OK, so I am still amazed that I am liking these fitness videos from Ford Models but they are pretty good. Kim is super cute and she's not your typical rail thin model, which makes things easier for us 'regular' women. In this video she shares her love of exercise bands and gives us a couple of great moves.
I also posted about a fun treadmill program from Kim and Ford, so check it out here.
