Diane Von Furstenberg is a design what you know sort of woman which is exactly why we love her so much. We hate to make a silly joke but she is FUBU for women. Diane IS one of us. She is for us and by us.
Now, normally we are loath to support the crazed contemporary market with its poor price to quality ration but Diane is in a class by herself. And we can say that without feeling a trace of hypocrisy because we have one of her dresses on right now. And we can safely say the textile quality is far superior to her price point peers. This woman has sourcing down after all this time.
DVF''s Spring 2009 collection felt a little girlier than her usual far with a host of soft finery. Ruffles, florals, easy proportions were out in full force. The collection had an almost bohemian feeling which needless to say is unusual in this current season in which we are seeing increasing feelings of concerning muting more lax attitudes.There were literally flowers in the hair of the models. Everything positively floated. With the scrum of insane celebrity culture at the show, the collection made us long to escape to a big field with a dress stolen off one of the models. We don't need to tell you that there were plenty of covetable prints (shudder, did we just use that word, so cliché?) but then DVF knows how to make you crave. We appreciated the use of sequins, sparkles, and otherwise blackbird lust objects. Sheen was in full force. Purple, orange, blue, teal, popular colors in many collections we have seen, was the palette.
