How the Victoria's Secret Models Get Bikini Ready

While promoting the new Victoria's Secret swimsuit catalog, models Miranda Kerr and Alessandra Ambrosio shared with E!

While promoting the new Victoria's Secret swimsuit catalog, models Miranda Kerr and Alessandra Ambrosio shared with E! Online their secrets for getting bikini bod ready. Though good genes and youth play an obvious part, the models make sure to eat right and work out regularly. "The first step is eating healthy," Miranda says. "I predominantly eat organic when I can. I eat extremely healthy because when I do, I have more energy."

As for what she eats, Miranda is a big fan of "spinach, avocado, lots of greens and broccoli." Like Miranda, Alessandra's diet also includes a lot of greens, but she admits that she can't pass up a good steak: " . . . I love meat, so lots of protein." Both women think the occasional indulgence is important so you don't feel like you are constantly depriving yourself — chocolate and french fries are their cheat foods.

To keep her body svelte and toned, Miranda does "yoga, Pilates, and low resistance weight training." She also makes use of the hotel gym during her frequent travels and hits the stair climber whenever she has the chance.

Although Memorial Day might be a few months away, now is the time to start working out so you'll be bikini ready by the Summer. If you're hoping to don a two-piece this season, give trainer Jackie Warner's beach body workout a try.

Lauren Conrad Is Ready For Summer

We learned last year that Lauren Conrad loves kickboxing, but it looks like she's upped the ante and according to In Touch is now doing what her trainer calls the Body Box.

We learned last year that Lauren Conrad loves kickboxing, but it looks like she's upped the ante and according to In Touch is now doing what her trainer calls the Body Box. Sounds vaguely sinister, but Jarret Del Bene, LC's trainer, says the boxing circuit is a full-body, high-intensity workout. Because the combos are always changing, the Body Box is also a boredom buster, which is good since the Hills star does the workout two to four times a week. The workout mixes punching and kickboxing moves with squats and other conditioning exercises.

Del Bene said LC follows a healthy diet, but she is limiting her caloric intake to 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day, portioned out into five or six small meals. While that is not dangerously low — an adult requires about 1,200 calories daily before the metabolism slows down as if there is a threat of starvation — I think I would feel hungry all the time if I ate like that every day, especially if I was exercising intensely. Are You Afraid of Your Bikini?

On the cover of this week's People magazine, hitting newsstands tomorrow, 48-year-old Valerie Bertinelli reveals the results of her personal bikini challenge.

On the cover of this week's People magazine, hitting newsstands tomorrow, 48-year-old Valerie Bertinelli reveals the results of her personal bikini challenge. After losing 50 pounds on Jenny Craig, the former child star hired a trainer with the goal of donning a bikini for the first time in almost 30 years. Gripped with fear before the big day, Bertinelli thought, "What am I so afraid of? Come on — it's just a bathing suit!"

She bravely achieved her goal, and she looks great doing it. Could you do the same now that Spring is here, or are you afraid to slip into a bikini?

DVD Review

Move It at Home: Crunch Bikini Body - DVD

After my outside jog last night, I tried out the Bikini Body DVD ($12.99) from Crunch that promises sleek abs, toned thighs and a firm bikini butt.

After my outside jog last night, I tried out the Bikini Body DVD ($12.99) from Crunch that promises sleek abs, toned thighs and a firm bikini butt.

Let me just preface this review by saying I am a hard sell when it comes to home workouts. The DVD is broken up into 4 parts, the whole workout (30 mins), just the abs (10 mins), just the thighs (10 mins) and just the butt (10 mins). I like that you can navigate directly to certain spots if you want to train just one body part using the video, or if you only have 10 minutes to squeeze in a quick workout. I started with the full workout and was a bit turned off with the busy camera work in the intro, but luckily all that stopped as the workout began.

The music was typical Crunch style, high energy and a little cheesy but it does pump you up. The workouts are done as if you're learning a dance routine -- You start with the first exercise and add on as you go along to complete a set of 5-6 exercises, all the way through, in the end. All you need to complete the workout is yourself and a DVD player, so no worries if you don't have dumbbells or exercise balls at home. The actual moves, if you can get past the added "sexiness" you're asked to bring to simple moves like squats and lunges, were good and challenging and I did feel like I got a decent workout. My heart rate was up most of the time, which I appreciated.

My husband has a blast watching (and laughing at) me do this one, so if you're looking to add a little sex pot to your routine, this bikini workout is for you. Me personally, I just felt ridiculous, but I will say that I had fun for the entire 30 minutes. Would I do it everyday? No way José, but I would definitely consider doing it every once in a while. To check it out for yourself, buy it from Amazon.com.
