Spice Up Your Sex Life With KAMA Movement

Forget the pole and stiletto heels, because your body is the only tool required for the sensual KAMA Movement workout.
KAMA Movement Is a Sexy Workout

Forget the pole and stiletto heels, because your body is the only tool required for the sensual KAMA Movement workout. For ladies only, KAMA is a sexy and erotic workout that targets the lower pelvic region in order to increase libido, open the hips, and help women gain more self-confidence. Developed by Miss Canada runner-up Halyna Skrypnyk and physician Dr. Melissa Hershberg, KAMA Movement is all about releasing your inhibitions while toning and strengthening the troublesome fat zone for most women that includes the hips, buttocks, thighs, and lower abdomen.

The exercises are as sultry as the name implies. KAMA is Sanskrit for pleasure, sexual fulfillment, sensual gratification, and pleasure of the senses. Centered on basic dance steps that emphasize hip thrusts, circles, and tilts, KAMA allows women to discover and/or reawaken their feminine strength and mystique. At KAMA classes, you'll be greeted in a romantic candle-lit room, dance to a mixture of hip-hop and sensual Eastern music, and gratify yourself with a dark chocolate kiss after class.

So get ready to release all your inhibitions. We're demystifying these hip opening exercises with Michelle Opperman, certified KAMA instructor at Crunch Fitness in San Francisco, who shares with us the basics of KAMA Movement.

Working Out, It's All in Your Head

Yesterday, I was surprised by the sound of a calendar notification: "3 p.m., Crunch trainer."

Yesterday, I was surprised by the sound of a calendar notification: "3 p.m., Crunch trainer." As soon as I saw it, I cringed. Having made the appointment the week prior, it slipped my mind and I was nowhere near prepared. My gym bag was under my desk like usual, but I'm talking mental preparation. While I'm up for spontaneous hikes, cycling outings, or a trip to the yoga studio, I still need to psyche myself out for time at the gym — especially when it's an hour-long intense TRX circuit training session. I love working out and I love my trainer, but it always seems to help if I have time to psyche myself out before heading in. Maybe it's because I need to be really focused when I work out with my trainer, or it could be because I want to plan the rest of my day around being sore. Either way, it just helps.

While I have a lot of friends that can head into the gym like it's no big thing, many people I know schedule gym workouts ahead of time for the same reason I do. How about you?

2011 Summer

Renew Your Fitness Goals With These Small Changes

June marks the middle of the year and is a fitting month to reevaluate your fitness routine and aim to work a little harder.

June marks the middle of the year and is a fitting month to reevaluate your fitness routine and aim to work a little harder. (It's bikini season, after all!) Renew your health and fitness goals this week by committing to small, but effective changes. Here are some suggestions to get you started.

  1. Undertake an extra long workout — Plan an after-work hike in the fresh Summer air, challenge yourself to run an extra mile, or sign up for 90-minute yoga class instead of the usual hour-long class. You may feel rushed all week, but schedule a long workout like you would a social or work engagement to make it happen.
  2. Plan your meals for the week — Keep unhealthy snacking and greasy takeout to a minimum by mapping out your food plan for the week. Try these handy meal-planning tips from Self magazine to make it possible.
  3. Aim to get more out of your trip to the gym — Don't waste any time or effort at the gym with these efficient workout tips for working smarter, not harder.

The Britney Spears Femme Fatale Workout

We are pumped to share one of our fave stories from Self here on FitSugar!

We are pumped to share one of our fave stories from Self here on FitSugar!

At long last (and after major hype), Britney Spears's Femme Fatale is out! Naturally, we took the pop princess's clubbiest album yet to the gym to find out what songs work during which parts of your workout.

"Till The World Ends"

It takes a solid minute for this Ke$ha-penned track to really get going, so use that time for some aerobic stretches to warm up your muscles. Try this: Stand with feet wider than hip-width apart, knees soft. Keeping hips stable, reach left arm overhead to right, and right arm across torso to left. Then reach right arm overhead to left, and left arm across to right. Next, bend forward from hips so torso is parallel to floor; repeat arm reaches. Then fold body completely forward and reach arms to front. Do sequence 20 times. To up your heart rate, add in jumping jacks or jump rope (you don't actually need a rope, just go through the motions!) for the next minute.

I've decided in an effort to stay fit and save some cash, I am going to try a variety of DVD workouts (via Netflix) and give you my review. This way you know what videos are worth renting/buying and which ones you can leave on the shelf. Now onto the review.

I purchased the Yoga Meltdown workout DVD sometime ago but have not thoroughly reviewed it. Being an fairly dedicated yogi (6 years of practice and counting), I was curious to see what Jillian was going to do — yoga and yelling don't exactly mix if you ask me — but I was willing to go into it open-minded.

The DVD consists of 2 workouts: level one and level two. I felt that level one focuses a lot on arms, whereas level two is more about the legs and abs. Each workout is approximately 30 minutes, which is great if you're strapped for time.
