15 Classics to Finish This Year

My favorite New Year's resolutions are cultural ones — they take determination, but are also kind of indulgent.

Whether it was to date more (or less) or take your current relationship to the next level, we asked what love-life resolutions you wanted to make in 2011. Only three of you chimed in, but they were all admirable resolutions for a healthier love and sex life.

  • "To not be so shy about my opinions." — Spacekatgal
  • "To not end up with (date/sleep with) any total losers. Also have lots of amazing sex." — Betty Wayne
  • "Pay closer attention and really listen to my boyfriend. Squabble less." — onlysourcherry

I'm Asking: What's Your Main Goal For January?

It's a new dawn, a new day, and a new year!

It's a new dawn, a new day, and a new year! With the holidays and end-of-the-year madness officially behind us, today is the day to plan ahead and make big change. I find plotting change in big increments (like the full year or decade) can be a bit daunting and should be left up to resolutions, so let's just stick with goal setting for January. What's your primary goal for this fresh, new month?

Open House: What Are Your Home-Related New Year's Resolutions?

A few close friends of mine are moving into their dream homes in early 2011.

A few close friends of mine are moving into their dream homes in early 2011. As you may imagine, their to-do lists are miles long, full of plans to repaint, retile, tear down walls, and in general, create a lot of mayhem in the New Year. Of course, this temporary mayhem will yield some amazing long-term results in terms of their homes' beauty and functionality.

My home-related New Year's resolutions are a bit more modest than my pals' plans. Since I live in an older home, a lot of my resolutions involve maintenance: scrubbing down the deck when the torrential rain stops, refinishing the kitchen floors, and giving the chimney a proper sweep are at the top of my list. I have left a little room for fun though — including rearranging some family photos on a new wall and switching around artwork.

Tell me, what are your home-related New Year's resolutions?
