"The rollup is a full-body exercise that engages the legs as anchors while utilizing the core muscles for support and the abdominals to move the torso up and over the legs," explained Julie. "It is an exercise that works on the way up and on the way down!"
- Starting on your back, inhale and reach the arms up. As you exhale, slowly curl up and over the legs without using momentum or letting the legs lift.
- At the top of the exercise, inhale to pull the belly in, hollowing the abdomen. Begin to roll down, exhaling to move the pelvis away from the legs, lowering the spine in the reverse direction, one bone at a time until your head reaches the mat.
- Do five controlled repetitions.
Transition: From your last rollup, stay lifted in the up-and-over position and bring your hands to the front of the mat. Step back into a High Plank, then lower to Low Plank. Pull up into an Upward Dog and then press back into Downward Dog.
