April Ross plays the left side of the court with teammate Jennifer Kessy. The 30-year-old earned her highest-place finish of the 2012 season at the World Championships in Rome, where she and Kessy claimed third place. Like Jennifer, this will also be her first time competing at the Olympics. In 2009, she was named USA Volleyball's Female Beach Volleyball Player of the Year.
Ross told the US Olympic Committee media summit, "I always watched the Olympics. I always found it super entertaining. But I never thought I would get there. It was a dream, but an unattainable dream. Everybody wants to go to the Olympics." Looks like her dream has come true.
In order to beat the two-time gold medalists, April and Jennifer are going to have to keep their cool, effectively communicate, and not get caught up in all the hype.
