You all know I am a fan of red wine. But did you know that some reds have higher concentrations of the beneficial antioxidants? So if you are drinking wine for, among other things, its health benefits, do you know which country produces wine with the highest amount of antioxidants? Take this quiz and see.
1 of 1Question 1

Donna Karan
I don't drink so I had no idea. Are there any comparisons between red wine and red grape juice? I love grape juice and always hope it's as good as they say wine is
1Grape juice is also supposed to be good for antioxidants, which makes sense since they both come from grapes anyway. I've had wine pretty much only because of the health benefits, since I'm not big on alcohol but I rarely ever have any so I don't know how much I would even benefit from it.
2Chilean red wine is the one that tastes the best too
3I love wine.
4Wine is my favorite.
5going to drink a bottle of my favorite antioxidant tonight! mmmm wine. and cheese.... and bread....
6It's just common sense that the correct answer would be Chile.
7hmmmm a bottle of antioxidants
8I love fitsugar, but this is a highly irresponsible post. Just because Chilean cab has a slightly higher percentage of flavonols, it doesn't mean that we should all order it over other cabs. For those of us who live in the United States, it is much more ecologically responsible to order California cabs - the carbon footprint is much lower as the distance the wine needs to travel is smaller. And reducing our carbon footprints will ultimately be better for our communal health (and health of the planet) as it means cleaner air, water, and soil. It is pretty narrow-minded of fitsugar not to consider these consequences and instead focus on such a one-dimensional aspect.
9i guessed chile based on the fact that i find the taste of most of them too "bitey" and a bit harsh. i prefer australian blends (shiraz-cabs) or milder italian wines. though i suppose that might make me ecologically irresponsible as charb says above! have to say though, i am really not a fan of most california wines. blah.
charb - i don't think the post is irresponsible in and of itself, but you do make a good point.
on a similar note, there are many wineries around my region in ontario (canada) and i've also noticed some french wineries using interesting recycled / recyclable packaging to cut down on some of the environmental downsides. the recycled plastic bottles are interesting, and they claim not to interfere with the taste. haven't fallen in love with any yet (most of them are young wines) but they are worth checking out if interested!
