Part of the fun of ordering a milk shake at a restaurant is that extra bit you get on the side, right? But milk shakes are more than an indulgence — they are an incredibly high-calorie one. A kid's size (12-oz.) vanilla shake at Ruby's, for example, is around 497 calories and has 12 grams of fat, and the larger 16-oz. size is almost 700 calories! Instead, order something slightly less decadent and still get your ice cream fix — a 12-oz. root beer float is 280 calories and contains 6.5 grams of fat.
