Packaged Hard-Boiled Eggs: Cool or Not?

The company Eggology, known for selling pasteurized egg whites, is now selling packaged hard-boiled eggs — $1 for two eggs. They're cage-free, organic, and pre-cooked and peeled, so if you enjoy eggs for breakfast, in your salad at lunch, or as a pre-workout snack, you don't have to boil or peel their shells off. Not that boiling and peeling an egg is that difficult, but anything that makes it easier to eat healthy seems like a plus. So are you eggcited about these pre-cooked eggs?

This would be perfect for people who have a hard time getting around because of illnesses and people on the go. I know I would like to buy these because that way I can put them in my salad and not get so tired out from boiling and peeling. This would be a good thing for people suffering from an illness.

ew. very uncool. boiling eggs is art and how could i trust someone with that? and by the way the kind of hard boiled egg that can stand a few days of refrigeration has to be boiled 30min, which changes the protein structure from the one that has been boiled say for 15min and it's changes the taste.

How lazy would that make you buying pre-boiled eggs? It takes 10 minutes!

I'm sure they're fine, there are so many other prepackaged foods that look scary but are quite tasty (Lean Pockets anyone?), but the sound of those eggs make me feel like yacking.

I've been known to buy them from the deli section. The store boils them in house, and sells them in little plastic containers that I keep to hold leftovers. The only excess packaging is the little price sticker, and they're sold by the pound, so I can usually get three or four for a dollar. As an occasional purchase, I love them, but I probably wouldn't buy these, because of the excess packaging and price hike.

If you keep your eyes peeled (pun intended) you can often find a dozen fresh eggs for around one dollar. Absurd cost aside, how lazy have we gotten when it comes to cooking? Like pre-cooked bacon, this really makes me scratch my head.

Considering that I just bought a dozen eggs for 57 cents that I can boil myself, I think this is a huge waste of money and there is WAY too much packaging. It doesn't take THAT long to boil an egg. People really are getting lazier and lazier by the day.

Back in undergrad I lived in a dorm where all I had was a tiny microwave/fridge combo. This would have been perfect for that!

It's a waste of money and packaging, but I suppose it's not a terrible thing.

I instead bought this cool little microwave egg boiler from Walmart for $1. I've had it for 3 yrs now and it gets a lot of mileage! It cooks upto 4 at a time, they are there, freshly cooked for me, I don't have to keep checking and worry about turning off the stove on time, and it's energy efficient. I just pop it in when I wake up, and I have my 2 eggs ready to go in 7 mins.

I usually just boiled 12 eggs at one time, then peel 'em, then put 'em in the fridge (the ones not eaten or for the next day) in a sealed container. So I def. won't be buying this product.

I love precooked/prepared hard boiled eggs! On my walk to work I pick them up at Au Bon Pain all the time. It's a great, easy, healthy breakfast or snack during the day. Convenience is the key.

When I was 7 years old I ate 14 hard-boiled eggs on Easter. To this day, they will always be not cool to me.

the packaging is excessive, but i like that they're using hen-friendly farming at least. i could see myself grabbing a couple if i was craving a sandwich in a hurry, but they wouldn't be part of my regular grocery list.

True it's easy to boil eggs but if these were available where someone went to grab a premade lunch or something it would be a healthier way to eat and as far as the waste goes, it wouldn't be any different than grabbing a Lunchable or something.
