Being in a relationship has a lot of perks, but spending all that time with your honey can make you forget to take care of yourself, which can translate to an expanding waistline. If your clothes feel a bit more snug since you started getting serious with that special someone, here are some ways your relationship might be bringing on the pounds.

working out was so difficult when i was in a relationship. my boyfriend did absolutely no exercise so i had to work around spending time with him to go to the gym or run. it was a pain in the ass.

Really the psychological reason people put on weight once in a relationship is that they don't have to "chase" anymore. Once alot of people feel secure in their relationships they stop trying. Really this is a bigger problem than just weight gain. If you stop dating someone once you feel they have committed to you, you also start to forgo the romance and passion. After time, this will lead to seperation, divorce or even just looking for someone that ignites those feelings once again. Continually trying to look better for your mate, and even dating them should continue to happen once you feel secure in a relationship. This is one of the best secrets of a long and happy marriage.

I put on a bunch of weight, but not when I started dating my man.. it was when I moved in with him. Eating the same things at dinner, going out to eat (and drink) with his buddies, hosting all the holiday parties... But he has gained a few pounds too. He only gains it in his stomach, and could take it off by cutting out sweets and jumping on the bike for a ride every day, but it isn't so easy for me. I'm currently 2/3 of the way back to the weight I was when I met him, but I'm not stopping there, and I plan to use this time to get really in shape and lose a little more. That way I can start our married life out on a good HEALTHY foot. As an added "bonus" result... my counting calories, and exercising has encouraged him to put down the ice cream and candy a bit too. So he won't try the brussel sprouts or pick up an apple for a snack yet... but I want us to have a nice long life together, and these are just the first steps!!!

And the worst is they can take it. Their metabolisms are much different than ours.

I think part of the difficulty in living with men is that their eating habits are so much worse. My dude brings home candy, cokes, junk food - and loves food like steak and pizza. I turn most of it down, but end up eating some of it.
