It's the moment that the USA women's soccer team and Olympic fans have been waiting for, payback against Japan. Hey there, I'm Lauren Bradshaw. It 's all over. Redemption for the United States. Redemption is sweet for the United States. After losing to Japan in last summer's World Cup, team USA got a second chance and succeeded in today's Olympic finals in a nail biting head-to-head match-up. FitSugar's Lizzie Fuhr is joining me now to talk more about the games. Hey, Lizzie. Hey, Lauren. I know we are both really excited about this ever since the US beat Canada earlier in the week we've been looking forward to seeing these two teams go head to head. I was really satisfied. How did you feel about the game? There was so much riding on this game. It was really hard to stay on track this morning before they got to play. So, the great news is the US beat Japan two to one. Carli Lloyd scored both of the goals. She made the first before halftime, and then the second in the 55th minute of play. Just such a sweet moment for Team USA. I love seeing them play together, you know, every time someone scores a point, they all huddle up and really, you know, show some affection, so that's one of my favorite parts is them playing together. Right. They love playing together but this game in particular had extra meaning for them because of that rivalry with Japan. Right, so as you mentioned, the US actually lost to Japan in the Women's World Cup final last summer due to penalty kicks. So from the get-go of the London games, Team USA has been saying we want this rematch with Japan, it was really their guiding light, if you will to get them into the finals and it looks like all that hard work paid off. The other great thing about this win, it's that it's the third consecutive summer game, where women soccer has taken home a gold medal for the USA. Well, nice to see them accomplish that. Really great. Well, they had a great day today obviously, but who else did well today? something else we've got to highlight is the men's decathalon competition since there were two Americans that medaled. Sweet. So we had Ashton Eaton take home the gold and Trey Hardy take home the silver so great job from track and field for Team USA. Nice to see them in the number one and number two spots. Yes, absolutely.
