Tips to Organize Your Kitchen to Eat Healthier

When it comes to rocking your bikini this Summer, eating clean is just as important, if not more, than your fitness routine. We've all heard the expression "abs are made in the kitchen," so take some time to organize your kitchen and feng shui your fridge to make eating clean a breeze. Our tips will certainly help you upgrade your eating habits.

I'm Zelana, here with celebrity dietitian and Shedding for the Wedding expert Ashley Koff. Today we're going to show you five tips on how to clean out your kitchen so eating smarter is easier then ever. First things first. Just because a product name is healthy something or lightened something doesn't necessarily mean that the product delivers on that. Check out the ingredient label, the nutrition facts, to find out if the product actually does deliver on its name. But every now and then, we want a quick meal. True. So what do we do? Grab some healthy ingredients and add those to your packaged food, and then split it with someone. When reading labels, you want to look for ingredients to avoid such as chemicals like high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oils. These have no business in your products and they have no business in your body. These chemicals we often think of as found only in the bad for you foods such as sodas and ice cream, but they actually can be found in your healthier salad dressings or your seemingly healthy whole grain breads and and snack food, so you really want to avoid. Absolutely. Bottom line is, if you can't pronounce it, don't eat it. Your freezer is actually a total gold mine from a nutritional standpoint. Not only does freezing help us preserve, but it means if you buy more, you're always going to have great quality fruits, vegetables, great quality meats, things like that available. So, it means, when you go shopping, buy more. You know, with the intention that yes you can have other frozen fruits and vegetables whenever you need them. Look and you actually did freeze them. I did, exactly! And these are great because I can just throw this in a smoothie. I got my smoothie packs, throw this in, add some green powder, and I'm good to go. Good to go. So, there's that. It's getting rid of that excuse of "Oh, I didn't have any frozen fruit or any frozen vegetables.". Super easy. No more excuses that I don't have fruits and vegetables that I can get into my day. You may walk into your kitchen because you are hungry, but actually your appetite is most likely to kick in with the first things that you see. So, if you're seeing junk food, you might suddenly turn, and derail your best nutrition efforts. So we recommend making sure that you have lots of fruits and vegetables available at your eyesight so that you start off wanting something healthy. You want to keep your kitchen a safe zone, so anything that you bring into your kitchen you wanna know is going to be the best quality for you and for your family. And I And organic whenever possible. Absolutely. And I know it can be expensive to go all organic at once. So just start with a few items, but make sure you avoid the dirty dozen and you want to stay away from non-organic apples, celery, your berries. Try to get organic for those items and then work your way up from there. So remember, keep the healthy food up front and read your labels when shopping. Thanks for watching FitSugar on PopSugarTV.
