The Nautica Malibu Triathlon was held yesterday, and what makes this triathlon famous are the famous contestants that race it. Celebs often compete to raise money for the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Last year Jennifer Lopez competed, and training helped her lose some of her baby weight. This year Teri Hatcher competed to scratch a triathlon off her "bucket list."

She was joined by costar Felicty Huffman, who is a triathlon veteran, as is her husband William H. Macy, who also competed. Jeremy Piven, Mario Lopez, and 2007 Bachelor and Ironman athlete Andy Baldwin raced in the triathlon as well. The triathlon consisted of a 880-yard swim, an 18-mile bike ride, and a 4-mile run. Looks like everyone had fun and started their day with a great workout.
For shots of all these competitors, keep on reading.

Fit - you posted this at 4:30 am! Don't you ever sleep?
1I wonder what kind of bikes they rode --- Fit, do you have any photos ??
2Glad to see Jeremy's mercury poisoning has cleared up.
3Is this the short triathlon version? These distances dont even seem like a challange
4Anon, it is longer than a traditional sprint (which is usually 1/2 mi swim, 15-18 mi bike, 1.3 mi run), but logner than an Olympic (1 mi swim, 25 mi bike, 6.2 mi run).
As for "a challenge" --- I disagree with you. Talk to someone who has won a sprint distance - or even someone who came in last - and they will tell you that yes, it is a challenge. It's just as hard to go fast/ hard for shorter distances than it is to pace yourself and be out there for 13+ hours for longer distances.
Anon, have you ever DONE a tri ?
5I think this is great. Maybe people will see these celebs getting out there and being active and realize that they don't stay thin from breastfeeding and yoga...
6Good for them! Those distances would be a challenge for me!
7Many of the celebs don't do all three events--so before I give accolades, I'd like to know who actually was a triathlete. I believe Huffman last year did only one or two events. So in addition to commenter #4 saying they are short distances, some people show up just for one event and say they competed. Yeah, it makes me bitter when they happily pose for photo ops and allow it to sound like they were triathletes!
8Good for them! Even if they didn't do all the events, it's still cool to see celebrities out there being active. I've never personally done a tri (can't swim), I respect people who do them. My cousin has done a couple of sprint-distance tris and yeah, they are definitely tough even though they aren't the length of an Ironman. My cousin wants to do an Ironman someday, but right now he's just moving into the Olympic length ones. Props to anyone who can do all the events in a tri...I personally would love to do one, but right now I could do the running/biking parts but the swimming would take me the rest of the whole day because I can only dog-paddle.
9I just think it's good that people are out there being active. It doesn't matter that they are doing distances that some deem worthy; it's about being healthy and having fun.
10I guess I don't understand why it would make someone bitter.
Hey I am in one of those pics! Lol.
