After wearing my new Nike Lunar Glides ($100) around the house to break them in, I took them on all sorts of runs while visiting the East Coast.

These shoes are light — one sneaker is just barely over half a pound (8.75 ounces according to my kitchen scale) — so they are great for traveling as well as running. Nike considers them stability shoes, meaning they help prevent overpronation, rolling too far to the inside of the foot. As one prone to overpronate, I was curious to try these sneakers out, since they rely on "dynamic support" technology rather than a lot of extra bulk to buttress the arch. Learn what I thought of these shoes when you read more.
Not only do I think these running shoes are cute — a hard thing to accomplish in white sneakers — I think they are super comfy to boot. They provide a lot of cushion in the forefoot, so the ball of my foot felt quite cushioned when running. I paid a lot of attention to my stride in these shoes, so much so it's lucky I didn't run into a stop sign. I couldn't feel myself overpronating and I couldn't feel the shoes really correcting my gait. But my knees, feet, and ankles felt great post-run, so I think the Lunar Glide's dynamic support kept my alignment spot on. The toe box is a bit roomier than other Nikes I have worn.
The extra arch support, which you can adjust by tying your shoes tighter, is helpful as is the "bunion" cutout. I ran with these shoes in the rain, on flats, and on a couple of hill workouts, and I loved them. I do think the insole should be a bit beefier, though. If you need motion-control shoes, the Lunar Glide will probably not provide enough support, but for neutral runners whose form wanes as the miles add up, this shoe will work for you. They are also Nike+ compatible and run a bit small, so if you're in between sizes, I would go up a half size.
Have any of you tried the Nike Lunar Glide? If so, tell me what you think.

Thanks for the review fit, I need new running shoes and was eying these. I also need stability in my shoes so I think I'll be getting them.
1Those are cute shoes. I haven't tried Nike's before but think I will go try them on and see how they feel.
2i'll try them on but it seems most shoes give me blisters
3Fit, you really should stop promoting "breaking shoes in." Running shoes don't NEED to be broken in.
And you should never buy a running shoe because it looks cute. A bonus, yes, but never the reason.
kcmosinki , I suggest you get fitted for running shoes before buying a pair based on an internet review
4I agree with ESQ - everyone should go to a good running only store and talk to someone knowledgable and try a lot of shoes before buying. shoes make a HUGE difference in running. you can't just breeze into Foot Locker, talk to some HS kid and buy whatever is on sale. Well, you can, but you'll pay for it later.
And look is the last think you should be concerned with.
5Esq — you don't break in your running shoes? I wear mine around the house for a couple of days and always have.
And I agree about getting fitted for running shoes or at least trying them on in a store before buying.
6No, Fit, it's a myth that you need to 'break in' running shoes. they should fit and be comfortable from the first run. I only wear mine when I'm running and only then !
7I agree. Proper running shoes should work out of the box. I don't "break" any footwear in...
8I don't break-in my shoes either. But I only wear my new shoes for 8-10 mile run, not for a long run.
9^^^ 8 to 10 isn't long for you....I feel inadequate now. hahaha. no, i just wish i could do that ever.
10I have these sneakers. personally, they fit my feet and stride incredibly-- i think they are my favorite running shoes I have ever had.
These rock!
I too have been eyeing these shoes. I've been looking for a lightweight running shoe that is slim but still provides enough support/cushioning.
Fit, Do you think these shoes would be good for my long and narrow feet? I have SUCH a hard time trying to find shoes that aren't too wide. I often have to tie them as tight as they will possibly go, just to have them stay on my feet! If not these, how do you feel about the other Nike Lunar shoes (Lunaracer & Lunartrainer) and what is the difference?
11Thanks for the nice review. I just bought a pair of these and I think they are excellent! I overpronate a little, and they give me perfect support. I have the mens version (I'm a man) and they are also feel wider in the front to me then other Nikes. I have a slightly narrow foot, but these shoes are great for me.
I just wish I had paid more for my Lunar Glides at a "runner's" shoe store. I think that would make them feel even better! I read about them and then went to Champ's. I got $15 off with a coupon from Subway. Unfortunately, I also like the way they look. As for the break in business, why are some of you so concerned if she wants to wear them around the house some, before she goes running? Even if they don't need break in, at least she can be certain of the way they feel/fit before she gets out on a run. Runner snobs..... I would rather read and learn for myself, then trust a random, possibly biased "expert" at a shoe store. I do agree that you shouldn't order on the internet, unless you don't mind returning them if they aren't right for you.
I'm very pleased with the Lunar Glides. You don't want Lunar Racers to train in!!

I don't know why you are putting expert in quotation marks. At my local running store the employees are all runners - and have been for years. Many of them ran at the college level. And when I started trying on shoes, they brought all types of brands -- Asics, Nike, New Balance, Saucony, Brooks, etc. They've never pushed a certain shoe on me. In fact, when I liked two pairs equally, they told me to get the cheaper ones.
For most people, buying running shoes off of the internet without having a chance to try them on is a bad idea.
13I did say "possibly biased". You may have great people at your running store. I'm just saying that there are good and bad, even at running stores. I didn't really mean to direct that toward you.
I guess my point, which may have not been conveyed in the most diplomatic manor, was that you don't have to spend a lot of money on shoes or shop at a certain store to be a runner. If you run, you're a runner. How many great runners have started out on bare feet?
I liked the way these shoes looked and they sounded interesting, so I decided that I could wear them casually, if I didn't like running in them. I'm a man and even I like for my shoes to look good!! BTW, They worked well on a 6 mile run yesterday.
14I'm actually a new runner and I bought these at City Sports. I have some back and knee issues and did a lot of research online and talking to runners. I absolutely love these for my runs. I'm slow to start, about 2 miles, but to not have any pain in my knees or shins after running is a first for me (which is one of the reasons why I stopped running before, I never found a great shoe). And the bonus is that they are cute, and I'm a girl who likes cute stuff, so I like my shoes to be functional and fly. If I'm going to spend $100+ on a pair of shoes, I expect them to fit all my needs.
15Thanks for the review, I wear Asics but considering trying new shoes after some foot injuries. Was looking at Newtons, but will have to check out these as well. Any Newton runners out there w/ thoughts on their shoes?
