Sarah Michelle Gellar is one of those celebrities that seems a bit more grounded, despite the fact that she too was a child actress. Recently, she deep dived with Self Magazine about what's it's like to be her...
Here are highlights:
Gellar follows a very strict eating plan that she summarizes in two words: good food. "I'm not much of a junk food eater. I like pretzels, but I'd rather have steak. I'd rather have a great meal. I'd rather dine.
It's a bit hard to believe Gellar puts away all that grub give that, at 5 foot 4, she's barely sample-size. But she works up an appetitive by being active virtually nonstop. As a child, she was ranked the third-best figure skater in New York state, and later she earned a brown belt in tae kwon do. Most recently, she's taken up tennis.
Usually I don't buy into celebrities saying that they eat a lot and don't gain weight, but somehow I feel like she's being honest. It seems she is just sensible about what she eats, but she'd never deny herself some tasty grub, especially since her hubby went to culinary school. Also, balancing off the tasty grub with some good old fashioned activity (skating and tae kwon do?!) is definitely a healthy way to live life. Plus, she's known to bike around New York City (man, I still love that bike) instead of using car, or a driver for that matter. Check out the rest of her great interview in the October issue of Self Magazine (on newsstands now).

I believe her. I don't understand the stars that obsess with their weight and their diets. Or the regular people who do as well. I'm 5'4" and 110 lbs, and the only thing I do to maintain this weight is to walk whereever I need to go (if I can) and dine on good food three times a day. Three decent size (not restaurant size) meals of real food (not lean cuisine, people) is all one needs.
1I think she is cute, and seems very down to earth. I wish I could eat like that though.
2I can't stand her. haha, goes back to an ex boyf liking her more than me and comparing me to her constantly, but other than that, i see how being that active is good. I just went to the gym for the second night in a row!!!!
and, they had a bagel breakfast today, and
although i snacked on one in the afternoon as well...I worked an extra 20 min at cardio! (and this was my strength training day haha)
3what size is a sample size?
4I think she looks normal, but I never did like her as an actress. Plus, she has the weirdest eyebrows I've ever seen.
5yeah, what is sample size?
6I like her, she seems honest and down to earth.
7Can't wait to get my issue in the post.
8sample size.. somewhere around a 2 usually
9Good food and walking are not enough for some people to be 110lbs. It all depends on genetics, and some short girls have to really fight for that 110.
10not like her as an actress...bad eyebrows??? ya'll are freaks. she's fabulous.
11I *heart* Buffy.
I think she's being honest. That's how I eat, and I am not blessed with a naturally slim figure. I work out 5-6 days per week, and I eat real foods. Once a week, I have meal of red wine, pasta or risotto, seafood, and dessert. It's all about moderation. I don't drink the whole bottle of red wine. I don't have to eat the entire cake (but I probably could).
12SMG strikes me as totally genuine. I love her approach to health and am glad to see her gracing magazine covers. Now let's see more acting projects! I can't get enough.
13I'm glad that she talks about how she likes real food and likes to dine rather than eat junk. I think that's why she seems genuine, she's not rebutting to the idea of actresses starving themselves by saying "I LOVE MCDONALDS!" which is what some actresses seem to think people want to hear. Instead she talks about her eating habits as someone who really does eat what they like in moderation and works out to stay healthy.
I'm not particularly fond of junk food and I don't think saying you eat that stuff all the time promotes a healthy image, even if you're attempting to make people think you actually eat food. So good for Sarah for being genuine.
P.S. Of course she's lucky enough to have a hubby who is a chef (and knows how to make good food).
14I just don't understand why magazines admire thin people so much and ask the reader to admire them as well, and ask us all to sit in amazement at how much they claim to eat while maintaining a tiny size.
First off, SMG was quite a bit chubbier before Buffy really took off. The more famous she got, the thinner she got. (like most celebs).
Secondly, eating real food, Dining, as opposed to eatinf pretzels will always keep you thinner because it's a REAL food, not full of crazy ingredients to keep it on the shelf longer.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to see through this.
15I really hate it when magazines ignore the celebs' past weight/size and just want to oohh and aahh over how thin celeb claims they eat like crazy and have a super ridiculous metabolism.
I wish I could get this magazine here in Oz. So many titles Sarah is in we dont get here and it's very unfair.
I think she looks great and is telling the truth. Sarah is the one quoted as saying "How can we (actresses) be this thin? We have personal trainers, we have chefs" so she's never made light of the fact that she works for her body and has help doing it.
