Clif, Balance, and Luna are a few of my favorite brands when choosing energy bars, but the popular packed-with-peanuts candy bar company wants to get in on the action too with their Snickers Marathon bars. I know what you're thinking. Snickers? Making energy bars? Yep. They were designed to give good tasting energy to active, healthy people, and they come in three varieties — Energy, Nutrition, and Protein.

I find it ironic that the ingredients couldn't be found anywhere on the entire website. Wouldn't health-minded people want to know what they're eating? Seems a little sneaky. Then when I did some research, I discovered these bars contain corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup — just what I expected from a food that has Snickers on the label. The website did include the nutritional labels, so to see how these bars measure up, read more.

I was wondering, have any of you tried these Snickers Energy bars?

Alas it's still a candy bar... look at all that sugar and saturated fat
1yeah, they were out several years ago (2005) and I remember having one or two. However, I was under no illusion that they were much more than a candy bar with some puff grain (like many energy bars). They were a bit less sweet than a snickers or candy bar and I liked them. I don't know of thy are formulated in the same way as they were, so they ma taste different now. But when I had them I enjoyed them as a snack or dessert.
2I'm pretty sure that Balance bars have HFCS in them, and they definitely have at least as much sat fat. Bars are fine for the occasional snack, but they're pretty much all candy.
3I'm with ellied...I'm not a fan of any energy bars because I think they're all pretty much nothing but processed sugars/protein isolates/etc. I'd rather get my nutrition from actual food, I guess.
Here's a tidbit of info for everyone: Snickers bars USED to be called "Marathon" bars back when they first came out; now they're just using that name for the nutrition bars that they make.
4Meh, I like candy bars on long rides. delicious
5I doubt they are very much different than most other "energy bars" out there. Only a few it seems are actually worthwhile when it comes to nutrition. That being said, I really like Larabars
6I tried one... my gym was giving them out. it was same ol same ol... nothing great. A little to sweet for my taste.
