I always assumed that celebrities were encouraged to lose weight and be thinner, but here's a surprising turnaround. In a recent issue of Us Weekly, it was reported that Megan Fox was "ordered by her director to pack on 10 or more pounds." She said "I'd lost a lot of weight and got really scrawny, but I was told I had to put on a size." Apparently in order to be in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, she needs to look more muscular.
So the actress has put herself on a diet of sweets (including red velvet cake), and she's also eating later at night to help her gain weight. To bulk her muscles up, her man Brian Austin Green is acting as her trainer, making her do "man workouts" including push-ups, dips, and pull-ups. Now she boasts that she's really strong. Good for her.
I am all for seeing a curvier, stronger woman on screen. I think it'll help send a more positive message to young women that super-skinny is out.

We will see what turns out with that 'man workout'...
1She'll look SO much hotter with 10 more pounds added!!!
2I read that the transformers director hates skinny girls...
3Megan could gain 50lbs and still be gorgeous ...
That is true about sending this better image but I think her description about how she's going about it is sending a really bad message! You don't have to eat cake to gain weight- i.e. muscle weight or good weight which is what girls who have gotten too thin can put on without feeling "guilty" about gaining weight, she can eat good fats and fish and avocado etc etc bc I'm sure just eating more in general will help her gain weight but a healthy gain- also the eating at night thing? Sorry but I've always been a believer that that was such a silly misconception- if i eat at 6pm and just sit around watching tv all night it's worse than if i do a great workout after work until 8pm and then eat at 8:30pm which is "closer to sleeping time". . . .anyways it's good they made her do this but I think her attitude is ignorant about health and all wrong.
4While it's a good thing the director's taking a stand on the skinny vs. fit thing, I disagree with Ikhandy. I've always thought she looks trashy.... like she should be stripping or in a playboy spread.
5She should really try to gain weight more healthfully instead of eating red velvet cake late at night. Gaining muscle mass correctly rather than gaining fat is the way to go. duh!
6Uh... She is still incredibly skinny. "Normal" sized girls are the ones who are called things like "monster" or "she hulk" on blogs etc.
7Man work outs? Seriously now?
8I've actually noticed for quite a while now that curvier actresses (not curvy like the general population, but curvy for actresses, which is still a start) have been more popular. Aside from a few examples, most are not the stick-thin toothpick prototype anymore.
9I agree with everyone who said she's broadcasting a bad message with the whole "I eat red velvet cake before bed!" nonsense. Sheesh. I believe I read in the article that she said she had originally lost the weight for another role by just not eating. While it's a truthful of the norm in Hollywood, for the love of god, could these women at least TRY?
10it's interesting - based on the title of the article i thought that it was going to be something revolutionary, but if you think about it, in order for actors to be believable in their roles, they have to make concessions, and in this case, she really did need to have a little more on her body since her role is athletic, running around avoiding destruction and all that. oh well.
i don't know if eating 'crap' is the way to go - but i guess if that works for her, then go for it.
11I am glad to see so many others saying exactly what I thought when reading this: she is setting a bad example! The way she is going about gaining is unhealthy and won't put on the type of weight she needs.
12I don't think eating sweets is the way to gain weight healthfully. ugh
13A "man's workout"? How, um, retro. ::rolls eyes::
14hot
15
16'Man workouts'? Great.
'Diet of sweets'? Not so great.
17haha.. i dont think she looks THAT skinny
18I agree with cmd0610.
19While she wasn't skinny-skinny, she did need to gain some weight; 10 pounds will give her a much better look. She's beautiful at either weight and Michael Bay made a smart choice to tell her to gain.
As for eating alot of sweets to gain weight... so wrong. Yeah, it's fine to eat Red Velvet Cake just not late a night or very often. She can have sweets however she should (and hopefully is) taking in protein and having foods with healthy fatty acid. Sugar is the wrong way.
I don't believe in "man" workouts; it is all a matter of which type of workout you enjoy. However maybe to her pilates is a female workout and push-ups/dips is for mostly for men.
I don't know...
20Eating sugar and fat laden foods are only going to cause her fat cells to expand. She'll be gaining body fat and not muscle. Train like a man, look like a man. Though, push-ups, dips and such are hardly just a man's realm. Push-ups and dips are part of my routines. She'd be better off freestyle training, which is done with a woman's body in mind.
She has a pretty face and nice lithe body. It is just the tattoos and lack of intellectual substance that disinterests me about her.
21Megan Fox said she lost a lot of weight for "Jennifer's Body," but she looked about the same as she always did. I saw some recent pictures of her, and she's definitely gained about 10-15lbs, so I guess, mission accomplished!
22Haha, I love the man work out comment! (I'm picturing her saying in a deep voice "yeah, I'm trying to bulk up") Too funny! I love Megan Fox and I think she is gorgeous!
23I had to gain some weight according to my doctor too. I sure as hell didn't opt to gain weight by eating cake and cookies. Gaining weight too fast is just as unhealthy as losing it too fast. Basically, I increased my protein consumption and upped my calories by about 200 per day. I slowly gained about 5-10 lbs and didn't gain any more than that because I wasn't pigging out on junk.
24I agree with cmd - I'm a bit worried by her 'I'll eat sweets to put on weight'! How about switching to full fat (and more natural!) food instead?
25She's a sleazy fake narcissistic egotist. Of course everyone loves her.
26how about peanut butter? Or you know what-just eat a slice of macadamia nut pie [1000 calories right there! lol] But seriously, I think she would look just as sexy with more meat on her.
