Last year, Lily Allen slimmed down four dress sizes by using hypnosis. Might sound strange, but it "reprogrammed her brain" to love eating healthier food and working out at the gym.

She's been able to maintain her lean figure, but it looks like this singer still has insecurities about her weight. To hear what she said in a recent interview, read more.
According to People:
"My mum always told me, 'You're beautiful, you're my beautiful little girl,' and then suddenly I wasn't. I read all the stuff that people were writing about me and I started to get a different view. I mean, I never thought I was a supermodel or anything, but I didn’t think I was quite as unattractive as people were saying! I just thought, ‘Maybe if I'm not fat, then people won't call me ugly.'"
It's sad that Lily felt she had to lose weight just so people would think she was attractive. Even though she looks great, I guess once you hear negative comments, it's tough to forget them. The good news is that now she's eating right and exercising, and this 23-year-old has even taken a break from drinking. Hopefully this healthy lifestyle will stick, and feeling good is bound to make her feel good about herself.

hypnosis to love going to the gym, ey? sign me up!
1Personally I think she was always pretty cute, but she looks even more fantastic now.
2I totally believe in hypnosis for these kinda of things, even though I've never tried it. I really do think that for a lot of people, me included, overeating and not eating the right foods, the choices we make, it's mostly mental. I think Lily Allen is an absolute doll, even if her antics are a little disappointing sometimes. Maybe that will improve with less drinking
3She looks fantastic! Bravo to her for her healthier lifestyle.
4On the hypnosis issue, my dad used it to quit smoking over 10 years ago. He smoked for 30 years...and my dad is 50.
I think she was cute before, but she looks really really nice, now. I just wish that people would stop criticizing someone so young (and everyone in general). I'm 22, and I feel so young...and it's not too long ago that the stupidness and insecurities of high school ended in one sense...but continued on an emotional level. Why torment someone just because you can?
Congrats to her, though. She looks fantastic.
5The first picture is just VERY unflattering. Nobody looks good in those stupid tops. There was outrage that she was resorting to unhealthy methods to lose the weight (4 dress sizes? really? in under a year? that's healthy?) and so I just worry about her now.
Her reasons for weight loss are not for herself, it's for other people.
6I always thought she was very pretty, people are just mean. They'll say anything to sh*t on other people's good time.
7I'd use hypnosis to lose weight...if I could afford it!
But good for her for losing it. I can relate to her insecurities, though...after a lifetime of hearing the negative, it's nearly impossible to get rid of that stuff. Even if I did lose tons of weight and become superhealthy and thin/skinny/"attractive", I don't anticipate ever getting rid of the nagging "you're a fraud, a fatty on the inside, you'll never be good enough" voice. Just have to learn to work around it, that's all.
Can't her hypnotist help her block that stuff out, though?
8She looks terrible in those two pics, which doesn't make sense since she's a cute girl. I never thought she needed to lose FOUR sizes. I'm a bit worried now, it's very easy to take something to a extreme.
9I think she looks fantastic in the second pic, I love the dress. Too cute. She's definitely pear-shaped, but for the most part I've seen her dress appropriately for her figure, like in the second picture above. None of us are perfect, but wearing what compliments what you've got certainly helps. She should wear things that focus on her shoulders, neck and slim waistline.
10I don't think four dress sizes in a year is unhealthy if you're doing it in a moderate sort of way. If you were eating unhealthily before and not exercising at all, any sort of modification, especially a big change for the better, is going to have fast results.
114 dress sizes is what, 30 pounds? That's very healthy in a year, or definitely less! Why is that unhealthy...? Many celebs lose that in a matter of 2-4 mos! Kate Hudson for instance lost apparently over 60 pounds in 4 months (baby weight), which is an avg of 15 lb/mo! Healthy? Not really, no, but she hired a trainer and obviously has kept it off. So, I see nothing unusual about this.
I'd estimate Lily was smething like a 10 before..? And is now about a 6, maybe even a 4? That is healthy, especially for Hollywood. But it's too bad she can't love her appearance now, but I'd assume being famous is a huge pressure in that department. So unless she gets Kate Bosworth skinny...I don't think its something to worry about.
12UK dress sizes she was a 14/16 and now she's slimmed down to an 8. Our sizing is quite generous so her diet was pretty extreme to do this. She lost the weight in about 6 months and I think she'd put it back on in the next 6 after that? It all happened very quickly around award ceremonies and the such.
13I always thought she looked great, I never thought she was fat or anything like that. She dresses well for her body type most of the time too.
I think she gained back the weight last year because she was pregnant, and then she got depressed after she lost the baby. At least that's what I heard
14wow. people can be such b*tches to celebrities
15She lost a healthy amount of weight. I've gone from a size 14 to a size 8 since June...so 34 pounds in 6 months...that's healthy!
16well i think that if she found a means to do it then that's great - i don't know if hypnosis would work for everyone - but that's ok. she looks great now - and hopefully she's happier these days. she had a rough year last year, so here's to hoping for a better one
17last year i lost 60 lbs in 6 mos!! i was really obese, and ended up losing ANOTHER 40 within the 4 mos after that!! thats 100 lbs in one year!!! LOL!! i dont know if thats really healthy or not, but i was in bad shape & made incredible habitual changes. you can lose weight amazingly fast, without starving yourself or taking weird drugs.
18I LOVE U LILY!! BUT DO IT FOR YOURSELF!!!
Poor girl. I always feel bad for girls who feel bad about their weight because I think it tends to affect them for a long time.
19LET WONDER MORE ABOUT WHAT SHE SING INSTEAD OF WHAT'S HER WEIGHT!
KEEP ROKIN GAL
