Quit Smoking With a Hand Gel

A new hand gel is starting to appear on drugstore shelves promising to satisfy users' tobacco cravings for up to four hours.

Walgreens is now stocking its more than 5,500 stores with packets of Nicogel ($5.99 for a box of 10 doses) which is a quick-evaporating gel made with tobacco extracts. Each serving of Nicogel contains about a tenth of the tobacco you'll find in a typical cigarette.

This is great for people trying to quit smoking but I wonder if it will lead to a world of newly addicted hand gel users?

I agree about the replacement thing. First though, look, I hate that I like to smoke. I like it when I have a glass of wine. And I've tried Zyban, the patch (nightmares and just an FYI, you are supposed to slowly go to smaller doses), I tried accupuncture, and the most success I had was hypnosis. I'm about to go try laser, my aunt who is a doctor has raved the success of it that her fellow doctors have proven. But it's annoying when people who haven't had the problem say things like, just stop smoking. It's not that easy. I spent the early part of my career with chefs. And one of the most addictive substances out there is fats and sugars. People say to overweight people the same thing. It's why the first few weeks of a diet where you are changing habits are the hardest. I keep in pretty good shape because I inherited high cholesterol, and I can attest to this, but it was hard. This is something I've battled with and I've seen some people keep smoking just to defy those that don't understand saying stuff like that.

i dont agree with these type of products because they just encourage the nicotine receptors to remain active longer. if you quit smoking and replace that with another product that contains nicotine then you will still be addicted to it. you have to experience the withdrawal to fully quit and let your body get used to it. thats the only real way to quit.

Well I'm sure nobody wants to smoke is an addiction. I hate smoking it never appealed to me at all. These things might be trading one addiction for another. I have a friend who quit smoking 3 years ago but still chews the gum. The point is that eventually you don't need the gum, right?

I think this is gross. JUST STOP SMOKING!!! If you really want to stop, then you can do it cold turkey. If you are doing it cuz it's healthy or whatever other reasons people give, then you don't really want to do it.
