People de-stress in different ways, and if soaking in a warm bath doesn't do it for you, try something a little more active and playful in the four-legged variety. Many studies show the health benefits of pets for relieving stress, reducing high blood pressure, and boosting your mood.

Calm your mind by playing with your pet. If you don't have one, canoodle with your friend's goldendoodle. Pet your neighbor's cat. Visit a shelter and play with the animals there. Aside from a cute face, cats and dogs provide unconditional affection, which is great after a stressful day.

I got a yorkie at home - and he is my best stress reliever. The dog will come to me right away whenever I call him and he is always ready for me Vs my kids/husband always tell me to wait. I sometimes joke to my husband that my dog is better them.
1I totally agree with pets and stress reduction. My cat can irritate the stew out of me sometimes, but if I have a bad day her meowing greetings and coming to snuggle with me on the couch is all I need.
2Me too, starangel !
And I have to echo Fit's suggestion about volunteering at a shelter -- my husband I volunteer once a week and it's both personally rewarding and stress reducing !
3Not just cats and dogs! My two bunnies are the best stress relievers (\_/)

I love Boomer! He makes me pet him IMMEDIATELY when I get home, and it really forces me to mentally realize I'm home. I don't have anything anywhere NEAR as cute as him at the office!
5And pets don't let you off the hook either. My cat is glad to come up to me and paw my leg and act all cute to remind me she wants to play.
It can make it hard to be too stressed to ignore them when they're that cute.
