I have them on my wrist... I don't think it's very bad at all. There are many more painful places than the wrist, so I'd say go for it

Yay, 4/4! Of course, I'm covered in tattoos--full sleeves and all that. I have a high pain tolerance and don't think any of them really hurt, except for the ribs. My boyfriend, on the other hand, thought the foot and chest hurt the most. I have a cherry blossom behind each ear and people always ask me how painful it was--didn't hurt one single bit. The only part that sucked was the buzzing right next to the ear!

i just got my second tat accross my back right by my shoulder blades in the middle... my other one is top of my foot.. by far my back hurt the worse... the foot was nothing. :)

I'm way too fickle to get a tattoo. I'll love a design for a while, then I'll find something else. Of course, I also have a fear of needles, and while I'm ok with pain once it starts, I'm a total wimp when gearing up for it.

I don't have any tats and don't plan on getting any. I hate the thought of something so permanent and because of a dream I had one night. I was 19, and my dead grandfather came to me in a dream and he told me something specifically about tattoos (he had many). So I won't even take that plunge.

I'm with foxie...I don't agree with the top of the foot either, it was my first and best tattoo so far...maybe it was because I was all geared up for excruciating pain?

I guess that's good news that the top of the foot isn't all THAT painful-I'm still considering getting one on my ankle, have no clue what to get yet though.

I didn't think my top of the foot tattoo was all that painful, but it's my only tattoo (although I'm getting my second one this week) so I don't really have any comparison.

I really think the pain depends on the individual AND the artist. Some artists can have a heavy hand...the night i got the first part of the wings on my back done, my artist friend was having problems with his girl...so i think he kind of took it out on me. Damn him! ;) I've always found that the outline hurts the worst and the color the least. BTW i didnt pick the top of the foot as hurting more since i have TONS of friends with foot tattoos and hardly any with belly tats. So i figured the foot must not be too bad if thats where everyone is getting tats...lol. *shrugs*

Oh yes, and has anyone heard about the theory that the more tattoos you get, the more painful they become? The explanation is that we might lose more of an adrenaline rush with each tattoo, as the process becomes more familiar.

TOTALLY disagree about top of foot and less fleshy areas being more painful. Most of my back is tattooed, the back of my neck is tattooed, and so are both my hips.The fleshier areas on my hips, near the butt and crotch, were extremely painful!Think of it: the more taut the area, the less the needle sort of drags through it.

boosha, my feedback is this: don't get it for him. Get it for you. No matter how much I love my BF and plan to be with him for the rest of my life (we are at 8 years now) I shy away from getting something inked on me FOREVER as it will always be a remembrance of him. Just REALLY think about it before you head into it. Know that you want it for you, and not so he will see how much he means to you.
