If you're trying to cut sugar out of your diet, the best way to go about it is by reading labels. If nutritional labels just said "sugar," the task of cutting sugar out would be easy, but they don't so it's not. Wow, so many ways to cover it up!
1Good lord!
2Honey is sugar?
I just mostly try to stay away from high fructose corn syrup.
3I think fitsugar can read my mind. Yesterday, I decided to go on "Sugar Busters" again, where I cut sugar out of my diet completely and now a Sugar post.
I was also thinking about doing some quick exercises at home and BAM! A at home exercise post.!!!
I love it.
4Ohhhh my
5Honey is 38% fructose and 31% glucose. So mostly a sugar.
6Anything ending in -ose is a sugar. Honey is 100% sugar...fructose and glucose are both sugars. Most of the ones you will find in food are fructose, glucose, galactose, lactose, maltose, dextrose, and arabinose. Anything ending in -itol is a sugar alcohol. Most sugar alcohols aren't easily digested...xylitol, mannitol and others can have a laxative effect if you eat too much of them. This list just goes to show that you really have to read your labels carefully.
7sho nuff
8Are all of these sugars created equal? Are we supposed to avoid all forms or do they differ at all? I assume that the body recognizes it and breaks it down similarly but are these all supposed to be our enemy?
9Awesome. Thank you for the super-informative post!
10It is insane how well I know that list. My cane sugar allergy has me running for the hills from a number of items on that list.
